Christmas Opportunities
An encouragement from Pastor Alvin
We heard the doorbell to the church building ring. A few of the ladies from the women’s ministry team, Pastor Mark and myself came to a bit of a halt. We were putting up Christmas decorations and a woman came in off the street desperate for the Lord. The thing is, she knew some religious stuff and she also said she knew “of” Jesus. Even in her anguish, she still had no idea that her deep needs could only be filled with the love of the Savior.
As we shared the Gospel with this young woman, we were reminded of the true blessing of Christmas, and the opportunities we have during this holiday season. There are lots of people out there who know “about” Jesus, but they don’t know Him as their personal Savior. You and I have been commissioned and recruited by God, to “spread the aroma and knowledge of Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:14). There are people out there in our everyday circle; at work, at the gym, at the grocery store, neighbors, fellow students, friends and family members. Let’s take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to connect with them. Here are four easy steps.
#1. Identify the unbeliever. #2. Devote ourselves to pray for them by name daily. God want’s all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4). #3. Find common ground and engage with them, tell them something about yourself, because a connection begins with relating. #4. Ask the Lord to give you an opportunity to tell them about Jesus in your life.
This could be the best Christmas ever!
