Calling all CHWs – Building Awareness of CHWs!!!

The 2023 Legislative cycle is just around the corner. This month, December 2022, is a great time to cultivate a relationship with your legislative representative to tell them about CHWs and the amazing work CHWs do.

Executive Director

Purpose

The Executive Director is responsible to provide leadership and direction for the organization. The role will manage the day-to-day administration and operations of the organization, through monitoring finances, contracts, technology, and ensuring organizational standards and goals are met. The Executive Director reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors.

Functions/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the activities of the Alliance follow organization’s goals, board objectives, directives, and approved policies.
  • Works with the board to fulfill the organization’s mission, as defined by the Board of Directors. Responsible for communicating effectively with the board and providing all information necessary for the board to provide oversight and make informed decisions.
  • Provides leadership to and builds an effective team by recruiting and hiring, onboarding, and providing supervision and coaching to the Associate Executive Director and other Alliance contracted staff.
  • Develops and implements budget and accounting policies and procedures for organizational financial success and sustainability.
  • Coordinates and leads annual budget reviews and monthly finance meetings with accounting support contractors and board of directors’ treasurer.
  • Monitors, files, manages, and ensures contracts with the organization are properly handled, executed, and completed.
  • Oversees proper maintenance and utilization of the Alliance’s technology and website content.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated abilities in organization and leadership.
  • Experience in supervision of staff and contractors.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies and plans.
  • Understanding of financial management and measures of performance.
  • Problem solving abilities and creative thinking. 
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Operate tools, technology, and equipment in accordance with Alliance protocols, operating procedures, and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of website management software, Microsoft Outlook, other Microsoft products, and video conferencing technology.  
  • Enthusiastically invested and committed to the continued growth of health equity and public health efforts with the use of CHW strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working directly with, supporting, and advising a Board of Directors.
  • Ability to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques.
  • Strong project management skills. Easily balances competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in organizing and leading meetings/trainings in a virtual setting. 

Location

  • Work will be done remotely. As this is a Minnesota-based organization, preference will be given to candidates residing in Minnesota.

Hours

  • This is a contracted position for approximately 10 hours per week. Additional hours may be available depending on grants/projects awarded to the Alliance.
