Our Big Day at SfN 2022
We Launched Our New Book!
We almost ran out of pens at the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conference! And we’re really happy that the world's biggest neuroscience meeting happened in-person this year. You can't just take our book and leaf through it online!
Because that’s right, our new title, “How Your Brain Works: Neuroscience Experiments for Everyone” written by our co-founders, Drs. Greg Gage and Tim Marzullo, just got released by MIT Press! And no matter how used all of us have become to getting stuff online, it hardly beats the holding or sniffing a book when it's fresh off the presses.
Pair that with the sci-comm bustle and you'll feel some of the atmosphere we encountered at SfN in San Diego!
But if you haven't snagged a signed copy, despair not. Our publisher, MIT Press, is offering a 20% off ALL titles published by them - ours included! You'll also get free shipping.
To get the discount, enter code MITPHoliday22 at checkout. Note that the sale is valid through Jan 31 for US audiences and through PenguinRandomHouse.com only!

Programming Our Claw
So It Doesn't Crush a Paper Cup!
Ever used our robotic Claw? What people love about it is turning it into a cyborgial extension of your own body. Squeeze your hand, and the Claw will pick up an object. Relax, and the Claw will drop it.
Well, we have great news: you can now program the Claw to squeeze just enough that it doesn't crush a paper cup. But the grip is still firm enough not to let it slip! This cool project was done by an educational nonprofit called Concord in partnership with the University of Connecticut.
They paired our Arduino-based hardware with a drag & drop programming in blocks to introduce computational neuroscience into the high-school biology classroom!

Brain Health Awareness Goes Up in the U.S.
Results of a New Survey Just in!
The WHO, scientists, educational orgs (us included!) have said it many times: one fifth of the world's population is or will be afflicted with one or more nervous system afflictions. The good news: it seems that the U.S. citizens are beginning to listen!
According to the latest survey by Dana Foundation and Research America, more than 80% of Americans report to be either directly or indirectly impacted by brain health issues. An overwhelming majority of the surveyed population admits to being either not at all or not very knowledgeable about brain health research, and 4 in 5 Americans would like to see federal funding for brain health research increased!
