This Sunday will be United second Sunday of Advent andwe will be lighting the Advent Candle - Peace. During the worship service, we will also join the Communion Table together. Our online community, please prepare your communion elements beforehand.

Advent Bags are available so that you can experience the season of Advent in your home. You can pick up your Advent bag after service or the church office: United Church of Hyde Park 1448 East 53rd Street, Chicago, IL 60615 during office hours 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. Monday - Friday.
Our December special offering goes to Bethany House of Hospitality. These gifts could be given to Bethany House of Hospitality and children at her establishment. Gifts would be unwrapped, and wrapping paper included. A box for children’s donations of toys, etc., is placed in the sanctuary. Please leave your gifts there by the end of December.

Ecumenical News
Hyde Park and Kenwood Interfaith Council, Thanksgiving Celebration was a big success. the video is available to download and watch. Here is the link (click the link). Thanks for everyone's support.
Illinois Conference (UCC) had the monthly updates on November 30. The Conference Minister, Rev. Molly Carlson gave the debriefing. All churches are encouraged to submit their OCWM by the end of December to help the Conference know how the financial situation (more about OCWM, click the link.) A more detailed financial report will be delivered in January. The Conference open the permanent position of Association Conference Minister (ACM) and now the search committee is working on the potential candidates and applications. The government body is to be adjusted and the now is under exploration, to fulfill the goal of "strong together." The first draft will be presented at 2024 Annual Celebration. The conversation about the two camps is undergoing. We are familiar with one of the camp, Tower Hill in MI. Both camps are struggling with financial incomes. Next year, a more significant conversation will be held to investigate the possibilities. Closing is on the table. Some properties are on the market for sale and some inquiries are received. The Annual Celebration next year will be in person, on November 3 and 4.
