SBDH Education and Workforce Working Group
Date: January 6th
Education and Data Science Workforce Group members are from industry, academia, and government. The Group secures funding for and develops: (1) government open data to support education and training in data science; (2) faculty and student data science training and curriculum development; (3) data science talent and workforce base; (4) connecting academia to industry and government needs, and (5) workforce development experiences for students.

MBDH Collaboration Cafe
Date: January 18th
The Collaboration Cafe is a monthly webinar open to all that is focused on building a community of data science researchers in the Midwest and beyond to explore funding opportunities and develop proposals. We are focused on elevating early-career scholars, particularly from underresourced institutions, but everyone is welcome, including participants from industry, nonprofits, and government agencies. The January Collaboration Cafe theme will be support structures for mid-career researchers.

HHS Grant: Programmatic Interventions to Increase Uptake of Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccination Among Students Attending Institutions of Higher Education
This program supports research and interventions to increase influenza and COVID-19 vaccination rates among students. Objectives include: 1) assessing knowledge and attitudes about influenza and COVID-19 vaccination; 2) identifying factors associated with likelihood of influenza and COVID-19 vaccination; 3) designing, implementing, and assessing approaches to increase influenza and COVID-19 vaccination; and 4) performing a cost-assessment of the intervention(s).

NSF Program: Human Networks and Data Science (HNDS)
The Human Networks and Data Science program (HNDS) supports research that enhances understanding of human behavior by leveraging data and network science research across a broad range of topics. HNDS research will identify ways in which dynamic, distributed, and heterogeneous data can provide novel answers to fundamental questions about individual and group behavior. HNDS is especially interested in proposals that provide data-rich insights about human networks to support improved health, prosperity, and security.
Proposals due January 12th.

Stanford Population Health Summer Research Program
The goal of this 7-week summer program from Stanford University is to provide training and experience in population health research for college students who are from underrepresented and historically excluded groups in the health sciences.

Laney Graduate School's Summer Opportunity for Academic Research Program
The LGS-SOAR (Summer Opportunity for Academic Research) (May 30-August 4, 2023) partners with the well-established Emory College SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) Program and will host potential LGS students (current NON-Emory Undergraduate scholars) who want to explore, experience, and conduct full-time independent and mentored research for the summer.

NIH Grant: Biomedical Knowledgebase
This funding opportunity announcement is designed to support biomedical knowledgebases. Biomedical knowledgebases under this announcement should have the primary function to extract, accumulate, organize, annotate, and link growing bodies of information related to core datasets.

NHERI Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer Program
The NHERI REU Summer Program provides research opportunities at the ten NHERI multi-hazard engineering and interdisciplinary research sites during a 10-week summer research program. The NHERI REU program is dedicated to helping undergraduate college students experience multi-hazard engineering as well as reconnaissance, cyberinfrastructure, data management, and simulation research.

The hackNY Fellows Program is a Summer-long co-living experience for full time Higher Ed (college or graduate school) tech interns.
