he professional highlight of my year was not one of the exciting shoots that led to the images here, but Career Day at my step-daughter's first grade class.

I was invited to talk about my job and I brought a lot of toys, including both my video and still camera rigs. It was a kick watching the kids walk curiously up to the cameras, slowly put their eyes in the viewfinders, and then see their mouths drop open with awe. 

The experience reminded me of how much I love my job. What inspires me the most is expanding our understanding by showing how other people live and work. I hope you enjoy the little glimpse into some of the interesting lives I've included here.
