Midweek News- 11/30/2022
Hi <<First Name>>, welcome to LIFE @ St. Anne's. We hope this will help you keep up with all the happenings here at St. Anne's.  Have a blessed week.

This Sunday we will celebrate St. Nicholas Day. St. Nick did lots of cool things (some accurate and some likely inaccurate) and this is always a fun Sunday to celebrate with the kids. Please come ready for fun. We are planning to have cookie decorating after the service along with lots of goodies. If you have a favorite Christmas cookie or other recipe to share please bring it! Kids will set their shoes outside the sanctuary before the service and hopefully a certain sainted bishop will fill them.

Also, don't forget that each evening (if we're lucky) at 7pm we will have Advent Story Time on Facebook live. The videos will be available on our Facebook page after they've been recorded.

I hope you are embracing the wonder and joy that Advent brings. Christmas is coming. Christ is coming to dwell with us.

Peace,
Meg+

Refugee Apartment- If you would like to join our refugee ministry team please speak with Brie

Hillcrest - Hillcrest is a transitional housing program for people who need a helping hand. St. Anne's sponsors an apartment for this program in partnership with St. Paul's Lee's Summit. Occasionally there is a need for supplies or volunteers to clean. The Hillcrest ministry is in need of items for their pantry. A list is above the white basket by the table in the Narthex.

St. Michael’s Pantry - St. Michael’s, Independence, hosts a necessity pantry providing a variety personal care items for those in our community needing assistance. This pantry can always use donations of men’s and women’s toiletry and personal hygiene items as well as dish soap and laundry detergent. Any donations should be left in the baskets located in the Narthex. The Pantry operates form 10a-2p the 1st and 3rd  Wednesday of each month.

BackSnack - St. Anne's BackSnack ministry fills 60 backpacks each week with packets of non- perishable food for children at Lee's Summit Elementary. The food is provided by Harvester's and delivered to our church by Episcopal Community Services. BackSnack meets at 1:30 on Monday.

Beds of Bags- Join us to weave plastic bags into "plarn" that will be used to make beds for people who are homeless. We weave plarn before church on Sunday morning.

Hope and Kindness Bags – Now available at the church – Keep one in your car to give to a person standing at an intersection looking for help from passing motorists. Bag includes: hand towel, wash cloth, bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, two high protein meal bars and a $5 gift certificate for McDonalds. Each bag has a greeting card with a caring message from St. Anne’s and a list of community service organization contacts for additional assistance. Please make a $10 Donation to cover the costs.

Sunday School – Our Sunday School program is offered once a month following the Youth Sunday service. The lesson and activities are child-friendly, but all ages are encouraged to stay and participate.  If you are interested in leading one of these sessions please let Meg know. You will have a $50 budget for any supplies that might be needed.
Choir - Join the Choir! No auditions or age requirements! Come practice with the choir on Sunday mornings at 9:30.

Cleaning Crew - The Cleaning Crew is a vital part of our parish that requires about 2 ½ hours and is scheduled approximately 6 times during the year. Let us know if you are interested in maintaining the homey feel of our facility.
