AFAM, Shasta, Sequoia and Yosemite news:

1) AFAM December board meeting took place on December 5th

2) AFAM community manager Albina visited Paris, Lille and Chalôns-en-Champagne campuses in November to meet students, faculty and administration staff. Shasta team members met students online on November 18th.


3) AFAM is launching a new program - Sequoia - aiming to help students willing to study in American Universities.We already have several students in the program. If you are both an A&M and any American University alumnus/alumna and are willing to help AFAM build this new program, please contact us to talk about it!
If you are an Arts et Metiers student/alumnus willing to join the program - contact us!


3) We would like to congratulate our Shasta students Marion, Guillaume, Anas and Erwan who found internships in the United States and will start in 2023.

In our Shasta program there are several students looking for internships for February and March 2023 (in
Data Science, Project Management, Manufacturing, Energy and other sectors). If you work in a company which hires engineering interns, please contact us to talk about it.

Student #1
Objective: Internship of 6 months or more, in the field of energy (renewable) in R&D, design, simulation
Starting date: February, March or April 2023
Skills: CAD: CatiaV5, 3Dexperience, Solidworks Abaqus; CFD: Star CCM+, Simulink, Python, SQL, MATLAB, VBA, Office Pack, LaTeX, fluid mechanics, design
Current situation: Currently a student at Arts et Métiers in a double master research degree in energy and environment with the Sorbonne University in Paris; will apply for a J-1 exchange visa
 

Student #2 
Objective: 6 months internship in project management or HQSE management 
Starting date: March 2023
Experience/Skills: improvement of a production workshop at VLD Paris, research engineer trainee at LM Wind power (General Electric)
Relevant Projects: realization of finger prosthesis, white electric cane for blind people, radar for bicycles, an AMDEC for rollers
Current status: 3rd year at Arts et Métiers; double degree with ESTP (Paris, civil engineering school); will apply for a J-1 visa.



Student #3
Objective: 6 months (or more) internship in Data Science/Data Engineering.
Starting date of the internship: February 2023
Skills: Materials science, fluid mechanics, data science, ML, Python, Keras, Tensorflow for NLP and prediction; French, English.
Experience: Two months internship in an Israeli startup as Data Manager and Business Development Manager; development of a Machine Learning model to predict climate anomalies in the world.
Certifications: Supervised Machine Learning: “Regression and Classification” and “Advanced Learning Algorithms” certifications (both at Stanford University)
Current status: currently in my final year at Arts et Métiers; will apply for a J-1 visa.


Student #4
Objective: 6 months internship in Quality Assurance or Assistant Project management
Starting date: March 2023
Experience/ Skills: Assurance Quality and Development summer internship at Safran Landing system; Assistant Business Engineer at Bouygues Energies & Services; Double degree with ESTP (Cachan, France); participated in various projects (mechanical gripper with a group of 6 members, company management in a group of 4 and 8, aircraft brake in a group of 2, rear radar for bicycle in a group of 8) ; Solidworks; Revit; Microsoft Office Pack; Python; fluent in English; ability to fit in a work group.
Current status: Currently studying in 3rd year at Arts et Métiers; will apply for a J-1 visa.


 
Student #5
Objective: 6 months (or more) internship in Data Science/Data Engineering
Starting date: late February 2023
Skills: material science, fluid mechanics, Data science, ML, Python, Keras, Tensorflow for NLP and forecasting; French, English, Spanish; 
Current status: currently entering last year at Arts et Métiers, with data science major; will apply for a J-1 visa


Student #6
Objective: 6 months internship in Product Management (Tech) 
Starting date: February 2023
Skills: Lean Management, Project Management, Industrial Process, Product Design, Data Analysis. 
Current Status:  Currently at Arts et Métiers, Industrial profile, tech oriented; will apply for a J-1 Visa.

 
Student #7
Objective: 6 months internship as Supply Chain or Planning Engineering intern
Starting date: September 2023
Skills: CAD/CAM (Catia V5), Lean Manufacturing, Lean Management, Project Management, Industrial Process
Experience: continuous improvement engineering intern at Louis Vuitton and intern at Ford (maintenance department)
Current status: Currently in 2nd year at Arts et Metiers; will apply for a J-1 visa 

 
Student #8
Objective: internship/VIE or a job opportunity (sponsorship required) as Engineer in the American Medical Device/HealthTech industry.
Starting date: March 2023
Experience/Skills:
- 1-2 year-experience in medical device R&D, interning at B. Braun Group as Testing Engineer
 - Designed 2 test benches based on NF-EN-ISO 80369-20, 10555-1 in 3 months, Designed and simulated a piezoelectric loudspeaker
- Ability to design compliant tests (ASTM, FDA, ISO, EU, NF, WHO),
- Microsoft Office, Python, MATLAB, Abaqus, CATIA, Ultimaker Cura, Zotero
- Native French, English (92/120 TOEFL iBT), Bilingual Spanish
- Ability to provide consistent performance under pressure, community involvement (6 years of volunteering)
