Lofts for Living and Giving in Nashville
506 Lofts
Nashville, Tennessee
High-tech cool, $
When visiting a storied town like Nashville, why not stay in a hotel with history? The downtown building that's home to 506 Lofts began its life in 1880 as a dry goods store. In the 1940s, it became Harvey's Department Store, notable not only for its wares but for its escalator (Nashville's first), indoor horse carousel, and live monkeys at the Monkey Bar food counter. Nashville, friends, has always liked a good time. Fast forward past a few decades as a men's shop and another few spent abandoned, and today the upper floors of the building have been converted into a half-dozen cool vacation lofts filled with custom furniture and original artwork. The hotel reaches for the future (those high-tech services) as it keeps a foot in the past (those artfully distressed walls). Best of all, staying here helps fulfill a strong social mission. Like its sister hotels in East Nashville, The Russell and The Gallatin Hotel, 506 Lofts couples hospitality with generosity, donating a percentage of proceeds to local charities — an admirable foundation not only for These Challenging Times, but for always.
