Resetting the relationship between Croydon’s
Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) and the Council
With Croydon Council’s main funding for the local VCS being withdrawn, CVA invited Cllr Andy Stranack to work with us on strategies for regaining investment in the local sector. The main action points arising from our November Croydon Voluntary Sector Alliance meeting are:
- Council to provide the breakdown as requested of its £20+ million spend on VCS groups by 9.12.22
- This breakdown to inform the Council’s efforts to ensure more of the Council’s overall spend on the VCS moves from national charities to local charities
- An emergency seminar/workshop is held asap on the Commissioning of Croydon’s local VCS – with the Council, Croydon NHS and CVA taking responsibility for event-planning
- The Council to confirm the process for VCS bidding into the UK Shared Prosperity Fund
- The Council to share the CYTO case study to inform VCS applications for Community Asset Transfers
- The Council to confirm the funds now available from the Community Infrastructure Levy and their proposed use
- The Council to share the Community Fund Equalities Impact Assessment with all fund-recipients
CVA will convene the next CVSA meeting when Cllr Stranack is ready to report back on his 121 meetings with the VCS groups affected by the cuts.
