Library Awards
Our Mr Reader awards scheme is well underway, and pupils have been reading their library books at home and during lunchtimes.  Our Library Prefects Cecilia and Nicolas presented the certificates and awards to the pupils.
Pen Pals
The pupils in class 5V were very excited to receive letters from their Pen-Pals this week, after waiting over 7 weeks for them to arrive. Our Pen-Pals are writing from a primary school based in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the United States of America. The pupils were very surprised to learn that they have a lot in common with their Pen-Pals, despite living thousands of miles apart. We can not wait to start writing our letters.
Year 1 Games
As part of their work on toys and materials, the Year 1 pupils used their creative skills to make simple games for the nursery pupils.  The nursery teachers gave us specification points to work within so that the games were suitable and child-friendly.  They then delivered these games to the nursery classes to be played with.
Gold Book
Well done to pupils in Lower Primary and Foundation Stages who were presented with their Gold Award certificates and gold pencils.
Bonjour et bienvenue au Café Napoli
This week all the year 6 pupils enjoyed le petit dejeuner francais.
They have been learning how to order in a café and enjoyed a menu of:-
Jus d’orange, Chocolat chaud, Pain grille, Croissants, Pain au chocolat.
Bon appetit!
Up, Up & Away!
Foundation Stage 2 have been busy working on their transport topic this week. They have been doing some non-fiction writing about different modes of transport. They have also been using their creativity to make some amazing hot air balloons.
World Cup
It was a fantastic game for England this week, luckily enough class 6C were able to listen and watch the game during their Computing lesson.  The pupils drew their designs using 3D design software which they will soon be 3D printing.  Here are some of the designs produced.
May The Force Be With You
As part of their 'Forces' Topic, Class 5N have spent a morning doing their parachute investigations. Each group made three different parachutes of varying size and have made predictions based on their recently learnt knowledge of upthrust.  The class then spent the morning working as a team, throwing the parachutes and timing their descent to see which parachute took the longest to fall.
Faith Diary
This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent, and marks the start of the Church’s new liturgical year.  It may be beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but for Christians, this reflective season of Advent comes first, to prepare us for Christmas.  Today’s Gospel sets the tone, exhorting us to “Stay awake” because the Son of Man is coming, but all too often, the significance of this Advent season is forgotten.  In our rush to get ready for Christmas, we can all too easily lose track of what we are really celebrating and forget that we should be preparing our hearts and minds, as well as our homes and workplaces, for the coming of that little baby boy who was born to save the world.  Let us pray this Sunday that we will not lose sight of this bigger picture and be truly ready to welcome him anew into our lives on Christmas day.
Nursery Update
Tara Sutton will be working across all the classes in our nursery from now until the end of March in a Training and Advisory role. She will be working hands-on with our nursery teachers to support your children and will offer professional development to the staff outside of the classroom.
