One Fish Foundation worked with a dedicated team to coordinate the Local Catch Local Seafood Summit in Anchorage, AK in early Oct. A year of planning produced a spectacular, engaging event with a diverse group of more than 175 people from around the world to celebrate seafood with values, community, transparent supply chains, and the commitment to address local, regional, and global fisheries challenges. We collaborated with Slow Fish North America to host a session about bringing seafood with values events and discussions to Slow Food communities across the country.

Advocating for clean water habitats, well-managed fisheries and aquaculture, and fair, just, and equitable food systems are key to One Fish Foundation's mission. For example, we collaborated with several organizations organizing public input to help shape policy for the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. We also incorporate stakeholder perspectives in classroom discussions so students understand what is at stake and why that matters. This year, we engaged students in some role playing after hearing from a lobsterman discussing the impact new regulations to protect right whales have on the fishery and the industry.
