Recent EcoGastronomy class at University of New Hampshire diving into seafood systems, complex domestic and international supply chains, and their impact on community-based fishermen.

We are thankful for your support!

We are thankful for many things, including:
  • Returning to in-person classroom and community discussions;
  • Working with motivated teachers who broaden their students' perspectives around their relationship to food systems;
  • Engaged students who want to take ownership of their relationship to seafood, whether they eat it or not;
  • The passion and dedication of colleagues from sister networks such as Slow Fish North America, Slow Food USA, Local Catch Network North American Marine Alliance, National Family Farm Coalition, and Don't Cage Our Oceans working to bring the seafood with values message to more communities;
  • Community-focused fish harvesters and small-scale seafood farmers who embrace Slow Fish Good, Clean, Fair values.
  • And . . .YOU!

Donations big and small will help us grow, expand our mission, and spread the good word.

One Fish Foundation worked with a dedicated team to coordinate the Local Catch Local Seafood Summit in Anchorage, AK in early Oct. A year of planning produced a spectacular, engaging event with a diverse group of more than 175 people from around the world to celebrate seafood with values, community, transparent supply chains, and the commitment to address local, regional, and global fisheries challenges. We collaborated with Slow Fish North America to host a session about bringing seafood with values events and discussions to Slow Food communities across the country.
Advocating for clean water habitats, well-managed fisheries and aquaculture, and fair, just, and equitable food systems are key to One Fish Foundation's mission. For example, we collaborated with several organizations organizing public input to help shape policy for the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. We also incorporate stakeholder perspectives in classroom discussions so students understand what is at stake and why that matters. This year, we engaged students in some role playing after hearing from a lobsterman discussing the impact new regulations to protect right whales have on the fishery and the industry.
