Dear Advocate,

We hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As we look to Advent tomorrow and this holiday season, we invite you to support Pastors for NC Children in our

Stoles for Education fundraiser.

Elder Stoles For Education
ELDER STOLES

We are selling handmade stoles with education and children-themed fabric. These stoles were made locally in Raleigh by a refugee mom to help support her family. Each is unique with different fabrics on the front and back, and each is reversible. They come in both Elder and Deacon styles.

These make a great gift as they are nice to have to wear for public prayer vigils for education, like the one we hosted in August. They are also great for Children's Sunday or Education Sunday celebrations. And with either Red or Green (for Elder) or Rainbow (for Deacon) fabrics on the reverse, you can wear them for many other occasions too! We have all our remaining stoles from our first order on our Facebook page with full details about length and styles.

Deacon Stoles for Education
DEACON STOLES

These stoles are available for donation to PNCC, and we are glad to ship them. We suggest $150-200, which would include the $60 to cover costs of the stole. Anything donated about the $60 will receive a donation letter from PNCC.

You can donate to PNCC securing online through our giving portal or mail a check made to Pastors for NC Children to:

Pastors for NC Children
PO Box 37241
Raleigh, NC 27627

Please email us with your order whether you pay online or via check, so we can reserve it for you: PastorsForNCchildren@gmail.com! Thank you for supporting PNCC and our local refugee neighbor too!

In this together,
The Rev. Suzanne Parker Miller
Executive Director, Pastors for NC Children

(PS See one that's too long, or want a different fabric combo, let us know! We can get more made to fit individual needs or shorten ones we have.)

COMING SOON: SEASON 2

We are working hard this fall to get all of Season 2 of Mission Amplify materials together to send to congregations in mid-January. The launch of Season 2 will happen toward the end of January with a webinar to introduce the season and update everyone on our postcard writing theme for Season 2, which corresponds to the start of the 2023 long session of the NC General Assembly which starts sometime around January 28th or so.

If your congregation has not signed up yet to participate in Mission Amplify, NOW IS THE TIME! We are looking to expand from Season 1 and reach even more counties across NC with our letter writing campaign and advocacy curriculum.

Writing Session after worship at Saint Francis United Methodist Church, Cary, NC this past October. Saint Francis has graciously served as one of our beta test congregations as we've spent this past year developing Mission Amplify!

Mission Amplify is a 6 session curriculum that teaches your congregation or community group how to engage with legislators around topics of need in public education to support the children of North Carolina. You will learn how to look up who represents you, how to write a postcard, and what issues need to be addressed in your brief note. We offer all the background materials about the topics, materials for you to use including however many postcards your group needs in order for each person to write 2 postcards per session, and support to make it happen! You pick when the sessions occur during the year, recruit the writers, and provide the stamps--we provide the rest!

Saint Francis' Coordinator and High School Science teacher, Don Thomas, and his family write during a Mission Amplify session after worship.

Writing sessions can be done over 6 straight weeks, once a month for 6 months, or as part of a special Lenten or summer series. Some churches write during or after worship, while others participate during small group times or Wednesday evening meals. There is lots of both flexibility and support to help get your congregation speaking up for children to those who have the power to make lasting change! JOIN MISSION AMPLIFY TODAY!

#LeandroAtLast

We continue to be THANKFUL for the NC Supreme Court ruling in favor of the Leandro Case on November 4. Not sure what it all means? Our Coalition Partners at Every Child NC led a wonderful discuss about what this victory means and where we go from here. You can watch the full hour webinar online.

Now we await the full delivery of funds hopefully before Christmas. Our work continues, though, as we must then hold our districts accountable to spend the money wisely to ensure equatable educational opportunities for all of NC's 1.5 million school children! We will also begin ensuring the Leandro Plan's Years 4-5 of the full 8 years will be completely funded as well. (The court order only includes years 2-3 of the 8 year plan.) #InThisTogether #LeadWithLeandro #LeandroAtLast
