CFRP is teaming up with TEK Chico to fundraise for our brand new Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Youth Ambassador Scholarship program. 50% of ALL donations CFRP receives between now and the end of the year will go directly towards these scholarships.
Over the past two years, CFRP has partnered with TEKChico to support indigenous-led land restoration and provide our community opportunities to learn about Traditional Ecological Knowledge from TEK Master Practitioner Ali Meders-Knight through our donation-based monthly wild-tending plant walks. Last month, we were able to use those donations to sponsor six indigenous youth to learn from Ali and support Indigenous People’s Day 2022 activities at Verbena Fields in Chico, CA. The interest from the youth and the success of the event inspired us to launch the TEK Youth Ambassador Scholarship program.
We are raising funds to sponsor indigenous youth for one year to apprentice under Ali. Youth Ambassadors will strengthen their knowledge of TEK, deepen their connection to their culture, and support our community by stewarding new indigenous leaders in land restoration. The number of scholarships is determined by the donations received. One year-long scholarship is $3,900 - all of which goes to the youth as a paid internship
