*Deck the Stalls Farm Christmas/Holiday Party—-December 18th from 5:30-7:30pm at Shakespeare’s Pizza DOWNTOWN
*Winter Break dates—-December 19th through February 28th. There will be NO LESSONS during this time. Classes will resume as normal on March 1st. Unused December classes will rollover to March. There will be no January or February newsletter. There will be plenty of opportunities for dedicated students to still visit the barn over break. See below!
*Christmas Cookie Canter—December10th. Please let Katy know if you plan to help.
**As the weather gets colder, dressing for riding lessons needs to get creative. Here are some tips if you are new to the art: Layering is your friend! Starting at the bottom, double your socks, wear tights with feet(Katy's favorite) and/or wear winter insulated riding boots. On the legs, wear tights, thinner fleece pants or tights, fleece lined jods(Katy's favorite, you won't regret it!) and jods over top. YOU MUST WEAR JODS AS THE FINAL LAYER. On the torso, wear fleece lined long underwear top, long sleeve shirt, sweater, down filled puffy vest and coat made for riding. For final touches, you can add an ear warmer under the helmet and WINTER riding gloves that are insulated. If you wear gloves, they must be for riding. If you have questions, or need help finding these items, just let us know. Many things are on sale right now in the tack stores!
*Winter Weather Policy—-We will be opened for classes unless the local school district is closed. If classes are cancelled, we will notify those who will be affected.
*Starting in December, the heat will be on in the office and hot drinks will be available for parents and students. Students should wait until after their lesson to get a drink. Parents, feel free to wait there to stay warm!
*The horses will soon be hanging their stockings with care! They are looking forward to seeing them filled with mints! Students are welcome to bring some starlight mints to leave in the stocking of their favorite horse.
*Due to increasing costs and challenges of obtaining and retaining vitally important assistants, rates for MINI lessons will increase by $10 after break. We will be sharing this information directly with those who will be affected.
*All items in the Lost and Found will be rehomed January 1st. If you haven’t checked in there in awhile, you might want to take a look.
*Couples Class Valentine’s Event—-February 11th. Please let Katy know if students would like to help or parents would like to attend!
