December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (or IDPD), and was introduced by the United Nations in 1992 to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements that persons with disabilities contribute to our community.
The purpose of IDPD is to:
- Promote an understanding of disability issues;
- Mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disabilities;
- Increase awareness of the value of integrating people with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
To commemorate IDPD 2022, Kickstart is thrilled to present a Virtual Learn-In featuring Kyon Ferril.
Thousands of migrants are detained each year in Canada, including countless women and children. Detained indefinitely in maximum security prisons and immigration holding centres, they are subjected to isolation, disablement, and violence.
Tune in on December 3 as Kyon Ferril and the Migrant Detainee Support Coalition delivers a live lecture on immigration detention in “Canada.”
