"Americans, I think, have a great advantage. To renew our unity, we only need to remember our values. We have never been held together by blood or background. We are bound by things of the spirit – by shared commitments to common ideals.” — George W. Bush

Oral arguments are set to begin on December 7th for the Moore v. Harper case in front of the US Supreme Court. The Brennan Center put together a short video that outlines the specifics of the case, what's at stake, and the danger it poses to our democracy. Watch the 2-minute, explanatory video HERE.

Can You Help Send A Student to D.C.?
Hendersonville Middle School is planning an 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. so students can tour, learn, and be immersed in the history of our democracy. The cost per student is $145, and there are many students who cannot afford to go. Courtney Najdek, who has been digital teacher-facilitator for Students Voting For Democracy for several years, has asked for donations to help her students make the trip.
If you can help, checks should be made out to Hendersonville Middle School and can be sent to the school at 825 Whitted St. Hendersonville 28791 . Please write "8th grade trip scholarship" in the subject line of the check. The school hopes to raise a little more than $3,000 so all students can go and is grateful for any donations.
And this just received: I cannot thank you enough! Because of the League, we have been getting so many donations. We are now well over halfway to our goal....I am truly grateful to you all. Thank you so much! Courtney Najdek 8th Grade Social Studies Hendersonville Middle School
