MASS CHORUS ASSIGNMENTS
We are excited to have the repertoire and chorus assignments all lined up for the festival now, in plenty of time to program the pieces for your own spring concerts if you wish. What a great way to learn the music in advance!
All registered choruses were sent an email with this information and links to the materials. The score and practice tracks for How We Start Again will be available in January 2023. If your registered chorus did not receive the mass chorus info email, or if you have any questions, please email masschorus@sistersingers.net.
And remember, singers who register as individuals can participate in a mass chorus too!

COMMISSION UPDATE: The final draft of the SSN Festival Commission is complete! How We Start Again by Ayo Awosika is a moving acapella work for SSAA voices. Participants at the annual meeting this summer got a sneak preview during a workshop with Ayo and were immediately engaged with the content, the rhythm, and the harmonies.
We really want to do this world premiere justice! The Steering Committee is arranging for a series of workshops, led by SSN Artistic Directors over Zoom, to help participants learn the music ahead of the Festival. Get yourself registered for the festival in January, and stay tuned for more details about the online sectionals (we all know how to do those now!) in the new year.

Artemis Singers, Chicago's Lesbian Feminist Chorus, was excited to workshop this month with composer Regina Harris Baiocchi (pictured above in the middle wearing a hat) on her new piece they commissioned. "Sistas Switching" will premier at Artemis Singers' Better Times Will Come concert on June 10, 2022 at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago. Then they'll be bound for Cleveland to perform this piece at the 13th Sister Singers Network Choral Festival!
Regina Harris Baiocchi is a talented musician, music educator, composer, writer and poet. She founded 6Degrees Composers in 2010 to feature Womxn’s music. Check out this description of her approach to composing at https://reginaharrisbaiocchi.com/.

SSN LEADERSHIP FORUM
Are you a current or aspiring leader in your chorus? Are you on the board, do you chair a committee or lead your section? Join others who support the operations of SSN Network choirs! Every month on a Thursday or Friday evening, we meet other leaders and share chorus-related operational challenges—what's working and what we are scratching our heads over.
This Month's Theme: How has your chorus handled physical security and safety during public performances? This is a question that is on our minds as we prepare for the festival in a time of more news about hate speech and attacks against our communities. We have some very specific ideas for how we might offer both protection and freedom for our festival time. We want to hear from you too.
THU, Dec 30, 8:00pm ET / 7:00 CT / 6:00 MT / 5:00 PT / 4:00 AK.
Dates/Times and ZOOM links can be found on the SSN Calendar.
