Giving Tuesday is November 29!

2022 is coming to a close and with it the 35th year of The Animal Guardian Society helping companion animals. .

It was a busy year with many animals joining our foster homes throughout Durham Region.  We were able to help dogs and cats from Ontario, Northern Manitoba, Quebec, Tennessee and Texas this year.  Coming out of Covid, the demand for helping homeless animals was high while the demand to adopt a dog or cat was lower than in the past.  It has been a tumultuous year in rescue throughout the continent.

We are proud that we were able to help over 60 animals find their forever homes.  We are so thankful to our 100% volunteer-powered rescue to have saved so many lives and to our supporters who have been with us all the way.

We still have many dogs and cats in our foster homes that are looking for their forever homes.  We have puppies, kittens and lots of young adult dogs. If you have been considering adding a furry family member to your home, please check us out on social media or our website at animalguardian.org.

Giving Tuesday is this week.  We would so appreciate your support so that we can continue helping animals in need in our Region.

We had some extremely large vet bills this year.  We had 2 Bichon/Poodle puppies from an Ontario puppy mill with parvovirus.  They were in the hospital for 5 days and without immediate veterinarian care, they would not have survived.  We are so happy to say Pixie and Rome have wonderful families of their own now and are in perfect health.  The vet bill for them was $9000.

Our senior boy Murphy was adopted by TAGS as a puppy 12 years ago. When his owner fell on hard times and could no longer keep him, we brought him back into our care.  Unfortunately he has had 2 very expensive surgeries - bloat and bladder stones - for a total of almost $15,000.  He luckily has the most wonderful mom and dad and TAGS financial support for life.

For us to continue to bring in animals like these, we really need your help.  We rely 100% on donations and fundraising.  We are a registered Canadian Charity and tax receipts are issued for any donation over $20.  We appreciate a donation of any amount and thank you for your ongoing support.

We are looking forward to another great year of helping animals in our community.
