"Makapu'u to Mānana"
This scene is from the shoreline of Makapu’u Bay looking toward Mānana, also known as “Rabbit Island”. It got this nickname because during Hawaii’s sugar plantation era, the rabbits in Waimānalo were sent to Mānana so they would not damage the suger cane crops.

To the right of Mānana is a smaller dark islet called Kāohikaipu. This islet gets its name from a cove on the back side of it the resembles
an ipu (container).
 
Makapu‘u, on the east side of O‘ahu, is a favorite place for body surfers and surfers including the artist. Click Here to order:

"Koholā - Hawaiian Humpbacks at Kīlauea Point"



 This is a new design from beneath the lighthouse I lived at when I worked for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.



"Ka Makani Lehua" (the wind of the lehua blossom) 



This design is from a 12' x 28' ceramic and glass mural installed at Lehua Elementary.
