Action at All Saints’

2023 Pledge Campaign continues!

As of Nov. 10th, 94 households have submitted their 2023 pledges. Thank you to everyone who has let us know your plans to support All Saints' next year. So far, the amount pledged (everyone's best estimate for giving) for next year is a bit over $296,000.

The Vestry will be making decisions about the 2023 budget soon so we are asking everyone who hasn't yet indicated your plans for next year to do so as soon as possible. We also want to give everyone an opportunity to increase your pledge - which is your estimated giving for 2023.  If you'd like to increase a pledge you already submitted, please contact Rachel Querry at rachel.querry@gmail.com, or you can call or text Rachel at 301-346-7887.

You can submit your 2023 pledge online (where you can also set up recurring gifts via your credit card) or by filling out a pledge card. Please submit your pledge, as soon as possible. Thank you!

Reading and Conversation on the book "Homegoing"

The Truth and Reconciliation committee will host its next Readings and Conversations gathering on the book "Homegoing" on Friday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM., at All Saints’. "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi is a story that “…leaves the reader with a visceral understanding of both the savage realities of slavery and the emotional damage that is handed down, over the centuries…” – The New York Times. Vogue states, “… No novel has better illustrated the way in which racism became institutionalized in this country.”

Please join us as we rediscover the past and how it influences our lives today. If you would like to participate in this conversation about Homegoing, please RSVP to Tracy Boyd  tlboyd23@gmail.com. You are encouraged to bring a friend, or two!  When purchasing the book, consider supporting Black-owned businesses.

For more information, feel free to contact: Tracy Boyd  tlboyd23@gmail.com  or  Rixey Hoult  rixeyann@comcast.net

Greening of the Church

Please join us Thursday, December 22nd at 5 PM for the "Greening of the Church". It's a whirlwind of festive activities! Teens transport boxed hurricane lamps, children help wheel carts of poinsettias for placement in the windows, folks replace bows on wreaths, and more!  Men, women, children... all are invited, and no flower arranging experience is necessary.  Many feet and hands make light work. There are lots of easy tasks that can be accomplished in an hour with many volunteers. Mark your calendars and join the camaraderie!  Pizza and beverages will be provided.

For more information or to RSVP, please email Jackie Gambill at jamgambill97@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunity

When you hear or see a call for volunteers, are your immediate thoughts: I have nothing of value to offer…there are other people more qualified than me…serving will require time or skills I don’t have…I’ll get assigned to a task I don’t enjoy? If any of these concerns apply to you, All Saints' has you covered. We are looking to identify parishioners who possess skills or knowledge in several areas that will enhance our stewardship for our buildings and grounds. We are looking for parishioners who have familiarity with HVAC, IT, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, roofing, +….. and use this in-house expertise to help in assessing whether acute issues involving our facilities could be handled with available volunteers or should be referred to our commercial vendors. Please note if you have skills not mentioned above that you feel would benefit All Saints', we’d love to hear from you too! This compilation of in-house trade knowledge would provide both a valuable and reassuring resource of counsel to the Rector and Junior Warden when issues occasionally arise.

Please contact Mark Walker, marwalk@gmail.com, if you are interested in sharing your knowledge or have any questions, comments or suggestions regarding this important stewardship opportunity.
