Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

  • PVCC has two employers recruiting on campus in the Student Center on Tuesday, November 29, 10:30-12:30:  UVA Temps (registration requested but NOT required; apply in advance of talking with them if you want to find out about the status of your application) and U.S. Air Force.  
  • PVCC is hosting a virtual Program Spotlight on the Pharmacy Technician program with program director, Krystal Green, on Tuesday, November 29, 6:30pm. Registration required.
  • PVCC's Leadership Program is hosting its final introductory workshop on Community Problem Solving on Wednesday, November 30, 12:00-1:30, Room M247. Please let us know if you can take advantage of this so that we're sure to have plenty of food. If you're interested in taking advantage of the full FREE Leadership program next semester that will run on Wednesdays, 4-6pm starting February 1, applications are now being accepted.  
  • Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a Recruiting Event in the Madison Co. Library (402 N. Main St.) on Tuesday, November 29, 11:30am-1:30pm. TSA Security Officers earn $16.90-$18.59/hour; possible $2000 sign-on bonus!  They ask that you RSVP (their flyer is about Cville jobs but the title of the event is about NoVa airports; they can talk about hiring at both).

Do you like working with people or animals? 
  • UVA Temporary Services is actively recruiting for a variety of temporary employment openings (for example: Transporter, Lab Coordinator, Radiologic Technologist, etc...). To help support these efforts, they are holding an in-person recruitment event in PVCC's Student Center (in the Main Campus Building) on Tuesday, November 29th, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Stop by and talk with them to quickly get your foot in the door at UVA!
  • UVA's Earn While you Learn program is taking applications for becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant. No experience necessary.  $15/hour while you learn! The next class starts February 6 but don't delay in applying since space is limited. 
  • Albemarle County Public Schools seeks a full-time CNA paying $17-20/hour plus benefits.
  • The American Red Cross seeks a Team Supervisor. Note that a RN/LPN license is required and that it's a bachelor's degree OR experience.
  • Nelson County is actively looking for substitute teachers.
  • Housing Sites, an after-school and summer program, is hiring a Customer Service Attendant. This temporary position pays $16.50/hour, and candidates must be able to work Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 pm-7 pm.
  • Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Clinical Lab Assistant - phlebotomy to work full days at the new draw site on High St. 
Do you like doing administrative, accounting, or creative work?
  • UVA Temporary Services is actively recruiting for a variety of temporary employment openings (for example: Executive Assistant, Lab Coordinator, etc...). To help support these efforts, they are holding an in-person recruitment event in PVCC's Student Center (in the Main Campus Building) on Tuesday, November 29th, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM.   • Attention entrepreneurs (or wannabes)! Lighthouse Labs is accepting applications for the Spring 2023 accelerator program. If accepted, you would receive mentorship, seed funding, and a cohort community to grow alongside you. The deadline to apply is 12/16.
  • Robbins Staffing has a number of openings in this category including an Associate Video Editor, a Marketing Assistant, a Collection Clerk, a Pricing Analyst, a Facilities Manager and three Administrative Assistant openings. If interested, please call 434-295-9770 or visit their website.
  • Robert Half is seeking candidates for a temporary Bilingual Administrative Assistant paying $14.25-18/hour.
  • The City of Charlottesville hires a Budget Office Intern for the City Manager's Office, paying $16.48-20/hour. 
  • The GO Virginia Grant program seeks a full-time Program Coordinator paying $50-52,000. This person will oversee funded project reporting, grant reimbursement, remittances, and deadlines for grant-awarded projects. Application deadline is November 30, 2022.
Do you like computers or doing other technical/STEM kinds of work?
  • PVCC is hiring a full-time Help Desk Technician paying $40-45,000 and great state benefits! This would be an excellent job for PVCC alums (or someone far along in your program of study who can work full-time hours).
  • The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is hiring an Engineering Technician and a Programmer Analyst. A PVCC alum was so wonderful to share this with us (and if you have questions about the Analyst position, email dcarvalho@hldi.org to connect with her)! 
  • Booz Allen is hiring a Test Engineer and will pay $63,000 - $131,600. Must be able to get a security clearance and pass a polygraph test.
  • The City of Charlottesville is hiring a Systems Administrator and a Police Systems Software Specialist, paying more than $40,000 per year.
  • UVA is hiring an IT Process Improvement Lead to work with the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. They will start reviewing applications on December 5th but will continue accepting them until the position is filled.
Do you like cooking, skilled trades, hands-on, or outdoor/physical kinds of work?
  • UVA Temporary Services is actively recruiting for a variety of temporary employment openings (for example: Warehouse Specialist, Transporter, Lab Coordinator, Radiologic Technologist, etc...).   • Park Properties Management Co. seeks a full-time Apartment Maintenance Technician
  • Goodwin William Staffing has posted a number of positions on College Central Network (a job listing resource open to all to use):  FT Carpenter ($15-22/hour), FT Heavy Equipment Operator ($20-25/hour), FT Construction Laborers ($16-18/hour), FT or PT Bartenders/Servers ($18-20/hour), FT or PT Dishwashers ($16/hour), FT Custodial Maintenance/Housekeepers/Room Attendants ($15/hour), FT Process Specialist (Day - $21/hour; Night - $22/hour), and FT Traffic Control Flagger ($15/hour).
  • Let There Be Light, PVCC's annual festival of outdoor artwork that glows in the dark, is right around the corner, and the team is looking for volunteers
  • The City of Charlottesville is hiring an Aquatics Maintenance Specialist, paying $41,891.20-60,195.20 per year.
  • Monticello is seeking Shuttle Bus Drivers to help transport 400,000 guests each year. If you have a CDL, the position starts at $22/hour; without a CDL (which you can earn while on the job), pay is $16-19/hour.
  • Chesterfield County is hiring a Utility Worker to install and repair water lines. Pay starts at $40,839 per year.
