“One positive thought produces millions of positive vibrations.” John Coltrane
This quote can be interpreted in so many ways. For H.O.P.E., it means that one healthy meal leads to multiple positive outcomes: Sharper minds for school, better energy to tackle life’s daily obstacles, nutrients for better long-term health and wellness. Think about the positive energy that 1,000+ nutritious meals and 2,500+ lbs. of fresh produce create each weekend for families struggling with food insecurity.
How does H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem accomplish procuring, prepping, and delivering meals & produce each weekend? Who helps prep and deliver the meals? Who keeps the fridges cold, so our ingredients stay fresh all week? YOU DO! We rely on community support to help H.O.P.E. happen!
Over the course of 2022, operating and supply costs are up across the organization. Meal ingredient costs have doubled since the start of the year.
Your past support has helped us weather this storm. Despite steep cost increases, H.O.P.E. has met demand each weekend we have operated. Not only that, due to your generosity of financial support AND your important gift of time, we were able to:
Continue our CSA partnership that provided over 10,000 lbs. of fresh, locally-grown produce to children and families in need
Grow our weekly Neighborhood Produce Market to make nutritious food accessible within our neighborhood right at HOPEQUARTERS
Build a Kids Cooking Class program, where chefs throughout Winston-Salem volunteer their time and talents to educate our youth on preparing delicious and healthy meals with a wide variety of produce
Meet the increased costs of supplies and increased demand for our meal and produce distributions
Expand our Education & Health Empowerment Programming – Kids Cooking Classes are just the start as we envision more ways to provide knowledge and resources around healthy eating and living
Engage with more urban, county and regional growers to provide more nutrient-dense food supplies to children and families we serve, while supporting vital agricultural economies in and around Forsyth County
Every dollar you give improves the health and wellness of children at risk of hunger. . Please consider making a financial contribution today. We need your support to continue to drive nutrition to feed kids at risk of hunger, and expand to make fresh produce more accessible, 18.7% of children live in food insecure households in Forsyth County.
