Lakeland History and Culture Center
at the Lakeland Public Library
Opened on September 8, 2022, the Lakeland History and Culture Center features a 1400 square foot exhibit space dedicated to telling the many stories of our community.
The current exhibit, Ties That Bind: 1880-1925, Lakeland's Formative Years, showcases the early days of Lakeland's founding and incorporation, as well as the role of the railroads in helping to build and develop the area.

Stories and Stones: Roselawn Cemetery Tour

Join us for a walking tour of one of Lakeland’s oldest cemeteries, Roselawn.
Learn more about the history of Lakeland, as told through the stories of some of our past residents, and become familiar with common funerary iconography.
The tour will begin at the northern end of the cemetery, just off East Parker Street.
Please wear appropriate shoes, use sun protection, and stay hydrated.

Missing storytime at the Library? We've made a take-home version! Drop by the eLibrary and grab some books from our display table, get a sheet of suggested songs and rhymes, and ask for a craft at the desk. Voila! Storytime, anytime.

Place items on hold and choose “Lakeland Book Locker” as the pickup location.
Once you are notified the items are available, visit the book lockers inside Kelly Recreation Center and scan your library card to retrieve your items.
