Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday! Please Support GALA with a Donation
Thank you for being part of our GALA community! 2022 has been a challenging year, but having the opportunity to spend it with such wonderful students fills our hearts with joy

The end of the year is a special time to reflect on what we are thankful for, as well as a time to give back to causes that positively affect our community. GALA is thankful for our supporters, volunteers, students, and staff.  We are especially thankful for:
  • Our dedicated teachers, support staff, volunteers, and administrators that provide tremendous care and commitment to our students;
  • Events that celebrate our diversity and school community: Math Night, Hispanic Heritage Month, Lunar New Year, Black History Month, and Spirit Week;
  • Providing an excellent bilingual education that is public and tuition-free in the city of Cleveland, and growing GALA to serve 300 K-7 students in our 7th year of operation;
  • Our 2022 Ohio School Report Card, ranking GALA as the #1 school in our neighborhood and the #4 school (out of 37 K-8 schools on Cleveland’s west side) for Academic Achievement.
As we move toward the giving season, please make a donation to GALA.  Our goal is to raise $8,000 by December 31st.  Reaching this goal will enable GALA to continue to grow and sustain the amazing work we do for our students.

To reach our $8,000 goal, we ask for your support on Giving Tuesday on November 29th (a worldwide day of giving to nonprofit organizations), in addition to donations through December 31st for our End of Year Fundraising Campaign. Show your support to GALA with a gift of $25, $50, $100 or more! Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $10 or $500. Every little bit helps.

Three ways to donate to GALA
  1. Donate online through GALA’s Facebook Fundraiser or at GALA’s website;
  2. Send cash or a check (made payable to “GALA”) to: 13442 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111; or
  3. Many employers offer matching funds or donations to organizations their employees donate to or volunteer at.  Please check with your employer to see if these opportunities are available for you!
What are GALA Students Thankful For?
We asked our students what they are thankful for, and we couldn't agree more with what they had to say! Watch this special video to see what they said - click the image below to watch on Facebook or view on YouTube.

Staff Faces Around GALA
GALA is excited to introduce Joshua Ford, Math, Middle School Teacher!

Why are you excited about GALA?
I am excited to be involved in a multicultural environment. I am a lover of the languages and cultures of the world and to work with such a diverse team and be around languages being spoken is super exciting.  I am also very excited to help students discover that they are mathematicians and to help them become passionate about the language of the universe.
Tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Southern California and love seeing the world. I went to school in Chicago, where I met my wife. I worked in the Data Migration field for 11 years and during that time I lived in Hyderabad, India for 2 1/2 years. I have 4 fantastic children and I have loved exploring Cleveland with my wife and kids over the past 7 years. I love learning how things work and I think almost everything is inherently interesting

What do you do when you are not working?
I collect hobbies as a hobby. I make functional art from discarded objects, woodworking, rebuilding vintage motorcycles, reading, occasionally working on my novel, and playing games with my family. I love camping and backpacking and exploring wherever I can. I am not often bored :).

What is your favorite activity and/or your favorite place to go in Cleveland?
My 2 favorite things to do in Cleveland are Parade the Circle, where my kids are usually involved, and Station Hope. One of the things I love about Cleveland is there is always something cool going on.
