What's New With Us
November was a tale of two climates. The first part saw us encountering rain storms and threats of snowfall as we made our way through Washington and Oregon. However, we did manage to enjoy a few sunny days out on the coast.
The second half has been all sunshine and warmer temps as we traveled down the great central valley of California and over into the desert on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. Great to get things dried out again.
Fuel prices have been higher this trip than before. Diesel is expensive these days. Averaged about five and a half in WA and OR and around the six-buck mark in CA. Sure glad the newer truck gets decent mileage.
However, we saved on camping fees, with mainly overnight free stops. Harvest Hosts casinos, business parking lots, public BLM land, and driveway surfing at a friend's place. So things have worked out in the wash budget-wise compared to previous snowbird trips.
We did spend $180 for a week on the Oregon Coast at Salmon Harbor Marina, but that is relatively cheap for that area. With the 25% tourist tax and reservation fees, most Oregon State Parks, especially along the coast, are now pushing $40 a night for us.
Sorry for the lack of videos this month. Didn't have much time with all the traveling south and then a bit of relaxation once we hit the desert. But I have a backlog of items to review, so will have more videos out soon. Stay tuned...
