Dear all,

It’s Giving Tuesday and I know you’ll be inundated with requests from so many deserving causes. I’m hoping you will consider OurBrainBank among them, as we are here because of your support.

This is the first full year for us without my wife, Jessica Morris, who founded OurBrainBank after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, the deadliest brain tumor. Jessica was a powerhouse. “Urgency” was her key word. And her mission – our mission – is to turn GBM from terminal to treatable, harnessing the power of patients.

Jessica lived more than five years. And in that time she not only threw everything and the kitchen sink at her tumor, experimenting with the latest treatments including a clinical trial that uses the repurposed herpes virus. She also wrote a memoir All In My Head that comes out in the US in January and created OurBrainBank which has grown into an international powerhouse.

Our achievements in 2022 and ambitions for 2023

  • We have supercharged our outreach to patients and caregivers to make sure that when they receive that first terrifying diagnosis they are not alone. Our soon-to-be launched upgraded website will provide information and support, and act as a hub where together we can push for more resources and attention for this often-forgotten cancer.
  • We are fueling cutting-edge research with neuroscientists at Harvard University to expand our data collection effort and enhance understanding of the disease and its impact on families, building on our pilot study
  • We are launching advocacy campaigns to make our groundbreaking GBM Bill of Rights a reality
  • We are connecting different healthcare systems and approaches to expand our international reach, with a very active presence in the UK.

So much to do
There is still much to do. GBM remains a cruel and brutal disease that receives insufficient attention and resources. Together, we can begin to make a difference.

Thank you for your help. This giving season, I ask you to dig deep again. With your generosity, we'll build on the progress we've made with Jessica’s sense of urgency to support people living with GBM and push for new treatments that will offer all of us hope.

Thank you and happy holidays!
