Snippets
  • Stuff run an initiative called Good Turns whereby their print subscribers can donate the amount of their newspaper subscription instead of temporarily stopping payments while they're away or on holiday. Stuff advise "We are currently seeking new not-for-profit organisations that would like to apply to receive a free newspaper subscription via Good Turns by filling out an online form. It would be a nice initiative to promote, providing their organisation with a freebie (no strings attached).
You can read more about it here."
  • ParryField have recently posted a blog entitled "When can a group call itself a registered charity?" <read it here>
  • If you are a Registered NZ Charity with an EoFY (end of financial year) of 31 December you will need to get your Annual Return to DIA Charities Services by 30 June. See this blog from DIA Charities Services.(includes links to a blog which busts the myth that you need an accountant to prepare your Performance Return.)

One-on-one clinics with Charities Services every Thursday

DIA Charities Services are holding free one-on-one clinics every Thursday from 2 February.

You are invited to talk to the DIA Charities Services team and get answers to the questions you have about being a registered charity. A range of appointments are available depending on what questions you need answered. Appointments are available with Charities Services staff to discuss advice on your rules, advice on changing your purposes or activities, financial reporting, and governance.

There are appointments available every Thursday. Register for one appointment, or multiple, depending on the help you need.

Once you have booked an appointment, Charities Services will be in contact to organise a Zoom or phone call appointment for the time and date that you have booked. To find out more and to sign up for a clinic, click here.
