Natasha Shares Her Heart for Missions

Love of God motivates missions. The Greatest Commandment — loving God and loving neighbor — results in the fulfillment of the Great Commission: go into all the world preaching the gospel. The Greatest Commandment fuels the Great Commission because love of God always results in sacrificial, missional living towards others.

Look throughout Christian history for the believer who makes loving God the ultimate goal, and there you will always find great missionary enterprise.

This month, Natasha made a special video about finding joy in her calling as a mother and ambassador for Christ. You can read what she wrote below or click on the video to hear her speak from the heart.

Loving God as Ambassadors for Christ - a missionary calling story

Natasha Health Update

Natasha has experienced, in her own words, "A night and day difference," in the comprehensive care available to us in the United States. This Thanksgiving, we praise God for His bountiful kindness and mercy shown through the incredible medical care she is getting back in America. We also thank God for all of you keeping us in prayer as we continue to get the help she needs to better manage her fibromyalgia symptoms.

God is a Missional God (from Natasha)

God is a missional God whose heart is for the nations. It was in college when this truth resonated with me.

It was through preaching, specifically during a missions conference, when the Lord began to burden my heart for those who had never heard of Christ. Also, reading missionary biographies impacted me greatly.

The Lord used these books in my life to give me a heart of surrender to whatever the Lord would have for my life. I remember reading about Rosalind Goforth, missionary to China in 1888. I read about John and Betty Stam, who were martyred in China, leaving their baby girl behind.

Little did I know at the time, God would one day send my husband and I to reach the Chinese people in Taiwan. God was preparing my heart years prior to have a missional heart for the Chinese people… and God continues to work in my heart today to have a missional heart for the people around me…such as my children, my brother and sisters, and my unbelieving neighbors.

Jesus stated that the most important commandment of all is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. And to love our neighbors as ourselves. I believe that if we are loving God and neighbor by the power of the Spirit, then we will be the missionaries God has called us to be.

I pray that God would help me to love Him more and more each day as I see His glory and beauty in His Word. I pray that as I’m falling more in love with Christ, that I will then love my husband, my children, and my neighbors as God would have me to do. I pray that God would give me opportunities to share the beauty of Christ with my children in everyday moments, speak truth and love to my family members, and show Christ’s love by serving my neighbor.

I don’t believe missionaries are any more important than those sitting on the pews in American churches because, as 2 Corinthians 5:20, we all should live as ambassadors for Christ.

Being a missionary always starts with loving God. Love of God will overflow into missionary love to our families, to unbelievers we work with, and to the world.

• Prayer Points
  • Pray that our love for God may deepen so that the gospel of Christ may broaden.
  • Pray for God to grant wisdom to us and doctors as we navigate these new health challenges.
  • Pray for the continued peace between Taiwan and China.
  • Pray that the faith of persecuted Christians suffering under repressive, Christ-hating governments will be strengthened and the gospel made brighter in darkness.
