Rina's Message to the Staff, Sara's Savvy Sources, Our Employees of the Month, Birthdays and Anniversaries, and OT Tips for the month!

Greetings From Rina

Dear SLEA family,

Welcome to our newest additions at SLEA! We have been very busy trying to help with extra support and staffing across all of the departments. One program that recently has picked up is Ed therapy. Many families and students are seeing learning loss post COVID and are struggling with grade level material. We are so proud of our current Ed therapists for all of the progress they have been making with their students! We are definitely needing to hire for this program. SLEA, please continue to refer any potential employees and we will honor a referral bonus. We appreciate both the client referrals and staff referrals so much! We have actually hired more employees through staff referrals this year than ever before which is definitely something to be proud of! I hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable Thanksgiving with your families and loved ones. I am so grateful for all of the hard work and dedication that each and every one of you put into your roles at SLEA to make a difference every day. Looking forward to continuing the holiday spirit and keeping the positive vibes out there!

Happy holidays everyone!
Yours truly,
Rina

November Behavior Employee of the Month!

CONGRATUATIONS!
Congratulations! You are the Behavior Dept’s employee of the month! You have been a pillar of strength and reliability since the start of the school year! You have done a great job with supporting staff, cases and families as well as recently taken on  Head Start Assignments! We appreciate your hard work and dedication! Keep up the amazing work!

What advice would you give yourself when you first started out?
I would tell myself not to take myself too seriously. Don’t beat myself up and every opportunity is a learning opportunity.

Hard work and dedication are one of your best attributes! Who do you consider a role model of such hard work?
I consider my grandmother and mother to be my role models. Although they are no longer here, they always pushed me to be my very best and work hard. Daily I saw the obstacles they faced, and they didn’t give up. On the contrary, they worked harder and fought harder. We will always have an obstacle or two maybe more but it’s important to not give up and work as hard as we can to overcome those obstacles.

What advice do you give newer staff in the field? How do you motivate staff to keep going, even on challenging days?
The most important advice I would give to newer staff would be to always ask for help when needed. Being new in the field can cause nervousness and possibly intimidation (I know because I've been there) but never be afraid to ask for help. We are all a team and working towards the same goals.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Any fun hobbies?
During my spare time, I like to read, workout, cook and travel.

What is your favorite holiday of the year? Why that particular holiday?
My favorite holiday of the year is Christmas. It’s the time of year for giving and remembering who the holiday is for. It’s the time of year we spend with our family and friends and get to be surrounded by movies, music, and food.

Thank you Elizabeth, for all your hard work!
