Faculty, students, and staff present to Peace Psychology Association

Earlier this month Marquette faculty, students, and staff--all who work on the Center's Peace Works program--presented to the Peace Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. The presentation focused on the framework and impacts of Peace Works on the administrators, educators, families, and students involved.

Ellie Rice, a Marquette student and nonviolence educator, discussed what the experience has been like for her working on Peace Works, particularly at the Milwaukee Public Schools’ Success Center. Tyeshia Boyle, a Peace Education Specialist, described the impact she sees the program having on young people across the variety of activities and services. Dr. Gabe Velez, a member of the Peace Works Faculty Research Team, ended with a few broad lessons learned across the various initiatives.

The presentation was part of a broader selection of work facilitated by the International Network for Peace Psychology to consider how communities, practitioners, and psychologists can be brought together in developing effective and engaging peace education.
