Currents: The Leading Light Wind Newsletter

Introducing Leading Light Wind

Welcome to Currents, our newly launched newsletter brought to you by Leading Light Wind.

Leading Light Wind (LLW) is an American-led, offshore wind project that will bring locally sourced renewable energy to the East Coast. Developed by Invenergy and New York-based energyRe, we believe in empowering the communities where we live and work and advancing a just, clean energy transition.

LLW will build on our track record of innovation in New York developing sustainable American infrastructure and impactful community engagement to advance public health, create good-paying jobs and support our local supply chain.

LLW is an offshore wind project in the New York Bight located 40 miles east of Atlantic City, and 80 miles south of Long Island. The lease (BOEM OCS-A-0542) covers 84,000 acres of seabed. Once operational, due to the project’s distance from land, turbines are not expected to be visible from shore.

Our team is at work meeting with key communities and stakeholders across New York to hear local perspectives, support opportunities for inclusive decision-making, and identify how we can best support the communities we’ll be working in.
