The National Academy of Inventors is honored to announce the 2022 Class of Fellows!

The new class is comprised of 169 distinguished inventors hailing from from 110 research universities, governmental and non-profit research institutions worldwide. 

The 2022 class of Fellows will be honored and presented their medals at the 12th Annual Meeting of the National Academy of Inventors on June 27, 2023 in Washington, DC.

Shu Chien, FNAI of the NAI Member Institution UC San Diego, was recently honored by his mentee and friend Gene Lay through a $25M gift to UCSD’s bioengineering department. Following the gift, UCSD has decided to change the name of their bioengineering department to the Shu Chien-Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering in their honor.
