(Philoptochos Logo)Many activities and opportunities to serve are scheduled during the Nativity Advent. Join us when you can!

Blessed Advent! The Philoptochos calendar has quickly filled up, and there are events happening now through Christmas. Here's what you can expect after tomorrow's (November 20) Hierarchical Liturgy:

At the Philoptochos Table...
(Graphic: Gift Tag)•  Healing House Gift Giving Kick Off – We're coordinating gifts for Healing House families who have been invited to the AHEPA Christmas Party. Stop by and pick up a gift tag, then return your wrapped gift by Sunday, December 11.
•  Cookbook Sales – The last few cookbooks are for sale for $20. They make a great gift for yourself and others, and support FOCUS Minnesota.
•  Operation Classroom: Winter Snow Gear Drop Off – Through December 18, we're collecting winter gear for Ella Baker Magnet School (preschool through grade 8). Drop off gently used or new jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens at our table in the Great Hall.
•  Fillo Pick Up – If you haven't picked up your pre-ordered fresh fillo, it will be available during the social hour.

In the Terrace Room...
(Photo: Kids with Kits)Philoptochos is assembling 180 IOCC Hygiene Kits at 11:45 a.m. in the Terrace Room. The kits include basics like soap, nail clippers, toothbrushes and bandages, and make a huge difference in ongoing development programs or when disaster strikes. Please join us.

There are additional Philoptochos activities through the end of the year. Please read on to learn more.

NOVEMBER 22 MEETING plus BOUQUET MAKING
Join us on Tuesday, November 22, starting at 6pm in the Terrace Room, for a fun service project followed by the November Philoptochos Meeting. Here's the plan:

(Photo: Bouquet)6-7pm: Work with Bluebirds & Blooms to make bouquets! The goal of this organization is to share a moment of joy with those living with memory loss or long-term illness through the gift of repurposed flowers. They will bring flowers and small/medium canning jars (vases), we'll do the creating, and their volunteers will do the delivering! Philoptochos is also providing flowers, so you can take a bouquet to share with a loved one, too.

IF YOU WISH, YOU CAN DONATE small/medium canning jars or vases, fresh flowers or greens, or fresh flower food.

7-8:30: Attend our final Philoptochos Meeting of the year. We need your approval on some year-end expenditures, so please join us!
PART 3 of the WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION of...
(Book Cover)Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, specifically the end of Book 3 and Book 4. Wonderful conversations have taken place -- all are welcome to join in the final discussion of 2022:
    •   Tuesday, December 1
    •   7pm followed by potluck supper
This will be a hybrid event with the in-person discussion at church and a call-in option. All women are welcome.

Books are available in the church bookstore. You can also listen to a reading of the book here. Closer to the event dates, an email will be sent to the distribution list. To have your name added to the list, contact Katherine Boosalis (katherine@boosalis.net).

Five Christmas trees will be trimmed on Saturday, December 3, 10am-3pm. Deck the halls with us for part or all of the day. Christmas music included!

P.S. Thanks to the Tuesday night basketball players who agreed to set up the trees!

(Graphic: Tree #2)VASILOPITA ORDERS AND DISTRIBUTION!

(Graphic: Tree #3)MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Philoptochos is hosting the coffee hour on Sunday, December 25. We're looking for a few others to help Connie and George Kouzes with set-up, serving and clean-up. All the goodies will be provided. Let us know if you can help on Sunday morning.
