What will Give Local York look like this year?
Supporting York County nonprofit organizations that care for our community and inviting new donors to be part of giving have always been key goals of Give Local York. As we move into our 6th year, two changes will highlight the focus on donors.

NEW HOURS!
Give Local York will now run from 9pm on May 4 to 9pm on May 5, 2023! Still 24 hours, but a focus on more accessible hours for donors, sponsors and nonprofits! We believe this will make it easier for everyone to both kick off the excitement of—and celebrate the accomplishments of—Give Local York, rather than waiting until they wake up in the morning to catch the news.

Donor Leaderboard and Organization-Size Leaderboards
On May 4 & 5, when you visit GiveLocalYork.org, the first visible Leaderboard will be the “Donor Leaderboard” with the number of unique donors to each organization. Individuals will be able to easily click to see the “Amount Raised” dollar leaderboard. New this year: we will also offer leaderboards categorized by organization size so that you can compare similarly-sized nonprofits!

Stretch Pool Focus
New for 2023, the Stretch Pool will be distributed based on the number of unique donors to each organization, rather than by dollars raised. If your organization’s unique donor count is 1% of all unique donors across the organizations participating in Give Local York, then your organization will receive 1% of the stretch pool. We hope this new approach will continue to encourage organizations to invite and welcome new donors into our community of generosity.
Notable This Year:
  • Non-Discrimination Policy will be linked to on your profile:
One of the Core Values of the White Rose Leadership Institute is Inclusion: We believe leadership is exceptional when it reflects our diverse communities. We listen, learn and work across differences to build the common good.
All nonprofits who participate in Give Local York must have a Non-Discrimination Policy and Statement in place. This is not new. But new this year, the PDF will be linked from your profile. If your organization does not currently have a policy in place, we are happy to provide resources as a starting point. Click here to see a sample Non-Discrimination Policy.

  • Offline Gift Policy Remains the Same:
Offline gifts (checks, cash, or monetary gifts made to your organization via methods outside of www.givelocalyork.org, for example, directly through your website, PayPal, Facebook, etc.) will be eligible to count toward your Give Day total, so long as they are 1) received between April 1 and Give Day and 2) the donor has indicated that it is their intent for this gift to support your Give Day efforts (i.e. as indicated by a check memo line or a remittance slip).
To reflect an offline gift in your Give Day total, the gift must be entered as an offline gift directly by the nonprofit via your dashboard on Give Day. The offline gift entry form is not available prior to Give Day.
The White Rose Leadership Institute reserves the right to audit any submitted offline gift. Beginning in 2022, all offline gifts will be assessed a 1% Host Fee. This 1% will be deducted from the organization’s Stretch Pool payout.

  • Give Day Fee Structure Remains the Same:
As with any credit card transaction, there are the typical transaction fees assessed by the credit card companies as well as technology and processing costs to execute the event. GiveGab retains a 3% campaign management fee from all credit card donations on the giving day, capped at $20 per donation. Stripe Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.5% + $0.30 for (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express).
Beginning in 2022, the White Rose Leadership Institute started collecting a 1% Host Fee on all online and offline donations that are made on Give Day. This 1% will be deducted from the organization’s Stretch Pool payout. The funds raised by this fee will go directly into event production and support to make Give Local York possible, specifically in providing the GiveGab platform. This makes the total online fee amount for Give Day donations 6.5%.

Donors will still be able to opt to cover the entire transaction fee if they wish--which means more dollars back to your cause.
The following are the questions that will be asked in order to complete your registration. Please have this information collected and ready to go prior to registration.
