APRA AMCOS |
Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA) and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) |
APRA AMCOS is the organisation that collects royalties on behalf of songwriters and composers and then distributes those royalties to the songwriters. This includes all original waiata as well as commercial music. |
|
A cautionary reminder to Ngā Kura ā Iwi songwriters and composers to please register your waiata with APRA AMCOS, especially if using mainstream tunes in any kapa haka items. This will help avoid companies seeking royalties in the future. |
Information needed for each haka item: Name of waiata Name of songwriter Name of composer
|
Important information: If the waiata or haka is original, please provide the name of the item, and who wrote the lyrics (writer) and the tune (composer). It may be a group name of songwriters and composers In addition to the information you have provided regarding the use of commercial tunes, please also give the Māori name of each waiata and its songwriters and composers. For example: 'Waiata'- lyrics written by Hone Mete to the tune of Titanic If the mōteatea or haka is traditional, please note that also.
