Good afternoon, secondary students!

Thursday in class I had you all fill out a questionnaire for our Silly Secret Santa aSsociation (S4). Here is the Information I said that you probably forgot about :)

We would like to have three gifts in total: one on each Thursday in December, leaving the last Thursday for the greatest gift. We did discuss the complexity of three different gifts and came to this conclusion (with much help from Kara Rothenberger). In order to minimize the need to come up with three different original gifts, there is a theme to each day:

  • Day 1 (12/1) - Give your person their favorite candy/chocolate!

  • Day 2 (12/8) - Give your person something that YOU yourself really like in your PERSON’S favorite color! For example, if I have Ben, and Ben’s favorite color is green, I would give Ben a lime because I love limes. This gives Ben a small hint at who I may be, as well.

  • Day 3 (12/15) This is where the questionnaire REALLY comes in handy. Use the information you have to come up with something, or a bunch of small things you genuinely think this person will enjoy.

It does not have to be a very big production. There is no exact budget, but if we aim for about $5, then that should be manageable. And feel free to spend more, but only if you can and really want to. So do try, but don’t get your person a car.

For both December 1st and 8th, please have your gift CLEARLY LABLED on the stage (we will specify where later) by first recess. We can have the Senior ladies pass out the gifts to avoid any mangling or stampeding. This time-frame allows people who are not able to be at the main building before Matins to get their gift in the correct area before freaking out. This also allows people to plan ahead. I will try to announce reminders at Matins.

The last day (Dec 15th) you will place your gift in Mr. Higgins’ room on the table on the stage (where the Juniors have Rhetoric and Latin). We will have Matins, go caroling, THEN open our gifts all together and guess who had us. Keep in mind that this day is also the Christmas Feast, so be flexible as things are subject to change.

If you know for sure on December 8th that you are going to miss school because your grandma is coming into town and taking you shopping, you can give your gift to one of the Senior girls and we can make sure it gets where it is supposed to.

Please TRY to conceal your identity and limit the amount of people who know who you have. I was informed that many people were sharing who has whom. This does defeat the purpose of a SECRET Santa, and takes the fun from those who are really trying to keep everything a secret.

We want to be very clear on what is to be expected by each person. Everyone has a chance to make this super awesome and fun. There should be no room for ambiguity and, if done correctly, this could add to the level of anticipation for Christmas super greatly!
