Using the site can be a great chapter project or lesson plan that involves research, writing and advocating. You can also share SkillsUSA news with your local media and invite them to cover your events. To write to elected officials, use the “Compose Your Own Message” section. #MadeInSkillsUSA Fall Social Media Campaign

SkillsUSA Champions: Show the nation what you made … and what you’re made of! SkillsUSA wants to showcase the great accomplishments our members make every day as skilled workers and leaders.  Share a photo that highlights YOUR skilled accomplishments using the hashtag #MadeInSkillsUSA.
That photo can represent something you made with your hands in or outside the classroom (a construction project, a graphic, a beautiful hairstyle, a culinary creation, etc.) It can also represent a personal achievement made in and through SkillsUSA (landing a job or internship, delivering a speech, leading a meeting, etc.). Through this campaign, members can explore different career clusters and connect with each other through their mutual love of SkillsUSA.

Rules
  • Post a photo or series of photos using the hashtag #MadeInSkillsUSA.
  • Add a caption that explains the photo(s) and the skills or knowledge gained.
  • Tag your advisor or other chapter members who helped you.
  • Be sure to use the campaign hashtag #MadeInSkillsUSA.
By tagging your post #MadeInSkillsUSA, you are giving SkillsUSA permission to share your post on the SkillsUSA website or national social media platforms. For questions, please contact Hayley Uffelman, SkillsUSA’s social media manager.

We can’t wait to see what was #MadeInSkillsUSA in your life! Look for more information on www.skillsusa.org and our social media channels soon. We look forward to seeing what you post!

SkillsUSA Chapters and Individual Members Who Volunteer May Be Eligible for Presidential Volunteer Service Award

SkillsUSA is a certifying organization of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) a national program administered by AmeriCorps and Point of Light Foundation. The PVSA honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner.

Individual SkillsUSA members who regularly perform volunteer work and SkillsUSA Chapters who perform volunteer work as a team may already qualify to receive the PVSA at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level.

Students and chapters who receive the PVSA award are recognized annually at NLSC, and receive a PVSA certificate and pin. Many students include the PVSA award in their resume or professional portfolio and on applications for scholarships, college admissions, and employment positions. To receive the PVSA, all volunteer hours must be recorded and verified according to PVSA guidelines. All applications must be received by April 1, 2023.

Full information about the PVSA and the application can be found at: www.skillsusa.org/membership-resources/awards/presidents-volunteer-service-award/

Please contact Megan Flinn at mflinn@skillsusa.org with any questions.

These make wonderful gifts for chapter officers, advisors, administrators and other SkillsUSA supporters.

Seeking "Straight-Out-of-High-School" Success Stories

SkillsUSA Champions magazine is looking to feature more success stories about members who chose career pathways that did not involve college and instead embarked on successful and fulfilling skilled trades careers directly out of high school. If you know of SkillsUSA graduates in your state who fit that description, please let us know. We anticipate that these students are successfully employed because of the skills they gained through SkillsUSA and that they did not incur student loan debt to launch their careers. If these students went to work for a partner they met through SkillsUSA, we’d love to hear about that, too. Please send a brief description of your graduate to Office of Communications Associate Director Karen Kitzel.
