News Summary

  • The Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority is working with local and federal agencies to clear evacuation routes along Highway 1 in Muir Beach and a fire road in Inverness and to create a shaded fuel break along the northern boundary of Stinson Beach, marking the first time the agency will conduct evacuation route clearing in the coastal zone.   • Hog Island Saltworks, the new venture from Hog Island Oyster Co. uses an obscure, 18th century method of evaporating seawater to produce a modern and hyperlocal take on the most basic of foods. (SFChronicle)
  • Tomales Bay Oyster Company got their use permit amended and they're now allowed to be open seven days a week, 9am to 4pm, starting this Monday.
  • Art lovers from around the Bay Area are invited to tour artists' studios in the Point Reyes area this Thanksgiving Weekend. More than 20 local artists open their studios to the public 11am to 5pm, Friday - Sunday. The 2022 map is here.

  • Nightly open gyms from 6 to 8 p.m. at West Marin School feature basketball on Mondays, indoor soccer on Tuesdays and Thursdays, volleyball on Wednesdays and soccer coaching on Fridays. All ages welcome. Sponsored by West Marin Community Services.
Tuesday
  • The Lagunitas Open Gym is open for pickleball from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. $5 to $10 requested donation. For information, email Lori at lramirez@sgvcc.org.

  • The Point Reyes Open Studios start today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the studios of 20 artists throughout Point Reyes Station, Inverness Park and Inverness. Information and a map are avail-able at www.pointreyesart.com
  • The Bolinas Open Studios start today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in seven studios. Information and a map at www.coastalmarinartists.com
  • The Jerry Hannan Band plays at 7:30 p.m. at Rancho Nicasio. $15. Reservations required at www.ranchonicasio.com
  • El Radio Fantastique plays at 9 p.m. at the Old Western Saloon, in Point Reyes Station. $10 at the door. 
  • Motorboat plays vintage rock covers at 9 p.m. at the Papermill Creek Saloon, in Forest Knolls.
