ONLINE Fiddle Class Session
this Monday 14th Nov
In this mailout you'll find the ZOOM LINK, payment details, my tune choice and a description of how the class works. This is for mixed ability, from post beginner to fluid player.
On Monday 14th Nov from 7 - 9pm we shall be gathering again to learn more about how to play the fiddle, We've got a great set of tunes in store that we're working through - each one brought by a different member of the group. I record the tunes and put them up on my site to make self learning easier. See below for the tunes we're working on this term and a video of my tune of the week.
You are welcome join us any time you can and check out if this is a good fit for you.
My tune
I suggest the first tune we play and next week it will be Aandowin at da bow. See below for video and link to this tune.

In this recording the tune is played three times, first time fiddle only, then with piano, then piano only so you can play along. I add all the tunes we've done into my library for us to access in the days following a class.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
I call it a class session as it's a blend of a traditional session that you might find in a pub in Scotland or Ireland, where any player might 'lead up' a tune and we go round a circle of suggestions. I blend this with some teaching points, the aim being that we develop a common repertoire and learn something through the specicifity of each player and their choice of tune. I like it because it's always a surprise to see what comes and each player offers something unique which makes learning much easier. Also, you're not always on the hot seat' so you're more receptive to absorbing - but you're enough on the hot seat to be supported and seen, which creates community.
Where to find your choices.
My site - it's always nice to revisit ones we've done before so feel free to jump into our existing library ( around 200 tunes ). Click on the live link name to open learning options.
The Session is a great source of tunes
Any other: Bring a tune you already know or would like to know better....but can play reasonably fluently.
In the video below I'm playing the tune that we'll be working with this week. If you want to give it a try, slow it down and loop small sections or read the notes on a pdf then click HERE
