Making Yoga Poses for YOU!
Yoga is for everyone, even ashtanga yoga can be approached by most if we are willing to make the person the priority….This is the approach we take at AYP.

When I started teaching in March 2002 😲 I believed that everyone should be doing the so called correct version of the pose. I would go around the room pulling legs and arms to help people bind, force their feet behind the head and give them preps to be able to do the ‘real’ pose.

Over the years, seeing so many beautiful bodies and contemplating on what Ashtanga Yoga is, based on the yoga sutras of Patanjali…

I felt as though I was teaching some kind of elite sport rather than yoga. I made a conscious decision that I wanted to share Ashtanga yoga with more than just those who happen to have the body with the ability to do lotus, deep back bends and put their feet behind their heads.

Of course, I (and all the AYP teachers) still go around the room offering my assistance and experience but what is different is the attitude as to what the ‘real’ pose is. The real pose is the one that elicits yoga (joining together). Opposing forces, sthira sukham, body mind, body breath, calm energy, trying not trying, healing mindfulness….

THE MAGNIFICENT MONTH OF DECEMBER
How it works:
Collect Challenge Tickets from the yoga teacher each time you complete a Mysore class at AYP. Practice AT LEAST 10 times and receive 1€ per practice off your next class purchase. The coupons must be used BEFORE March 1, 2023.

*10 classes taken = 10€ reduction plus 1€ per additional class

In Mysore everyone practices at the pace of their own breath and ability. Progressing slowly through the practice in order to create something that is sustainable over the long term. Once you have memorized the sun salutations and the general format of the beginning of the standing sequence, we encourage you to enter the Mysore program. We have practice sheets available and an instructor is always present to help you if you forget something. The teacher gives personal advice, which is not always possible in a guided class. Traditionally this practice is done in the morning before starting the day, with the sun rising. When you start your morning with something that nourishes your body, mind and soul, you will find that for the rest of the day you will tend to do the right things and make the right decisions!
