Two exciting events celebrating Switzerland and Italy in Space!

To celebrate Italy's National Day of Space and the long-term record of successful collaboration in space between Switzerland and Italy, the Italian Embassy in Bern and EPFL, with support from eSpace, are hosting two exciting events: Italy and Switzerland: Together in Space on December 15, and Technical Workshop – Space technology and sustainability: a challenge for the future on December 16!

Italy and Switzerland: Together in Space

The Italian government has established the National Day of Space on December 16. On the day before, in 1964, Italy launched the S. Marco 1 satellite, becoming the third country to have space capabilities.

In order to celebrate the third edition of the Italian National Day of Space in Switzerland, the Italian Embassy in Bern and EPFL are organising a public event which brings together Swiss and Italian astronauts and Space Agencies, large space companies and university spin-offs.

Technical Workshop - Space technology and sustainability: a challenge for the future

The space economy is a fast-growing sector at global scale. In particular, it is becoming a leading business and research sector in Europe. It is more and more important to develop new ideas and opportunities, leveraging on the strong competence of universities and research centers together with the solid support by space industries and the growing constellation of SME and start-up companies.

On the Italian Day of Space, eSpace - EPFL Space center, together with Embassy of Italy in Bern and the General Consulate of Italy in Geneva, are organizing this technical workshop to promote a network of collaboration between Italy and Switzerland, involving Academia and space industries, large companies and SME.

Starting from the presentation of new technologies, developed in Switzerland with a significant participation of Italian researchers, we present examples of how space can present opportunities for both for young engineers and scientists, and for companies.  As it becomes more and more crowded, the responsible use of space key, as will be discussed during a round table.

Researchers, engineers, space companies, start-up, students and any interested person are invited to join this free technical networking event.
