Bishop Gruss: May we, too, return to the Lord to give glory and thanks to the One from whom all blessings come.

Thanksgiving Blessings to all of you.

Dear friends, I pray this message finds you well and that you will be enjoying a beautiful day and meal with your family or friends.

As many of us spend the day relaxing and enjoying the company of those we love, let us keep in our thoughts and prayers all who are alone on this day or suffering in any way – the many in our world who have far less than we do.

I offer a special thanks to our parishes and people who have helped serve or provide for those in need this Thanksgiving. Your gift and kindness are a witness to God’s love in our world.

In today’s Gospel reading, we hear the story of the 10 lepers who are healed by Jesus, but only one returns to give thanks and glory to God for what has been done for him.

This is a beautiful passage from St. Luke’s writings to reflect upon today. As we spend this day in our country calling to mind the many blessings we’ve been given in life, like the leper, may we, too, return to the Lord to give glory and thanks to the One from whom all blessings come.

I want you to know that you and your family remain in my prayers. I will be offering my Thanksgiving Day Mass for all of you and your intentions.

May the Lord bless you abundantly this day and may the peace and joy of Christ be with you always.

A message from Bishop Gruss . . .

As Catholics we are called by the Lord to take responsibility for caring for our Church – to further the mission of Jesus Christ in our world, in our time.

The task of caring for the Church is not limited to those within our own parish or even our own city or town. We are missioned to do good and share what we have with those who we know – and with strangers.

Christ’s Mission Appeal is the primary opportunity for Catholics throughout the Diocese of Saginaw to support one another through widespread ministries that impact all 56 of our parishes and well beyond.

All gifts, no matter the amount, touch the lives of the people we serve in our diocese. Your sacrificial support is very much appreciated as it helps us to continue and expand the Lord’s work.

Please prayerfully consider your gift to Christ’s Mission Appeal. As always, please know of my prayers for all the faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw.

May God bless you and your families!
