Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• Thanks to the Thanksgiving break this week, there isn't much going on BUT we'll share about some of next week's events so that you can mark your calendar.  Enjoy your break with family and friends this week!
• Lovesac Furniture is coming to Charlottesville and is hosting 2 in-person hiring events this week on Monday, 11/21 and Tuesday, 11/22.
• PVCC has two employers recruiting on campus in the Student Center on Tuesday, November 29, 10:30-12:30:  UVA Temps (registration requested but NOT required; apply in advance of talking with them if you want to find out about the status of your application) and U.S. Air Force.  
• Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a Recruiting Event in the Madison Co. Library (402 N. Main St.) on Tuesday, November 29, 11:30am-1:30pm. TSA Security Officers earn $16.90-$18.59/hour; possible $2000 sign-on bonus!  They ask that you RSVP (their flyer is about Cville jobs but the title of the event is about NoVa airports; they can talk about hiring at both).
• PVCC is hosting a virtual Program Spotlight on the Pharmacy Technician program with program director, Krystal Green, on Tuesday, November 29, 6:30pm. Registration required.
• PVCC's Leadership Program is hosting its final introductory workshop on Community Problem Solving on Wednesday, November 30, 12:00-1:30, Room M247. Please let us know if you can take advantage of this so that we're sure to have plenty of food. If you're interested in taking advantage of the full FREE Leadership program next semester that will run on Wednesdays, 4-6pm starting February 1, applications are now being accepted.  
• Attention entrepreneurs (or wanna-bes) - Lighthouse Labs is accepting applications through noon on December 16 for the Spring 2023 cohort to support you with your business development. Twice a year they invest $20,000 seed capital equity-free in up to 10 early stage startups. Over 3 months, you would receive mentorship, education in scaling a start-up and a cohort community to grow alongside you.

• The Colonnades / Sunrise Senior Living has a number of openings with sign-on bonuses: CNAs ($1500) / LPNs ($5000) /RNs ($5-7000).
• Hospice of the Piedmont has a number of openings:  CNAs, LPNs, and RNs.

• WellAWARE is seeking an energetic, open-minded, and compassionate Community Health Worker paying $19/hour. All training provided.
• LCT Publishing and Media has a part-time sales position paying $20/hour plus a 10% commission. You must have your own car.
• Lululemon is hiring a Seasonal Educator at Stonefield. Base pay is $15-17.35/hour with an opportunity for bonuses.

• Riverside Doctors' Hospital in Williamsburg has a $15,000 sign-on bonus for their Surgical Tech opening! They have openings in other parts of the state as well (for many healthcare positions). For example, a 13-week temp surgical tech assignment that pays $63/hour.  

• Red Light Management seeks a full-time Accounting Assistant paying $40,000+/year. Apply by 11/30/22.
• The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is hiring a full-time Administrative Assistant.  
• H&R Block is hiring a Receptionist in Charlottesville.
• Goodwin William Staffing seeks candidates for this full-time F&B Manager position that pays $60,000.
• Harris Teeter is hiring a Store Manager in Charlottesville, paying $65,000-$75,000/year.

• Amy Laufer is running to be the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 55th House of Delegate district, and she is looking for motivated and organized students to join her campaign as either volunteers or interns doing research, canvassing, emailing, social media management, writing, and brainstorming, along with other tasks that arise. • PVCC is hiring a full-time Help Desk Technician paying $40-45,000 and great state benefits! This would be a great job for PVCC alumni (or someone far along in your program of study who can work full-time hours).
• Lumos is hiring a Service Activation Tech I in Waynesboro (benefits included!)
• The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is hiring an Engineering Technician and a Programmer Analyst. A PVCC alum was so wonderful to share this with us (and if you have questions about the Analyst position, email dcarvalho@hldi.org to connect with her)! 
• UVA Medical Center is hiring an IT Tech (Service Desk) and a Software Systems Analyst.
• The City of Charlottesville is hiring a Systems Administrator paying $40,000-69,000/year.
• Attention PVCC Info Tech / Computer Science alumni or those with some years of experience. Albemarle County has some openings which may be of interest to you! Senior Systems Analyst for Community Development ($64,551 - $84,885) and Senior Applications Developer ($75,000 - 90,000). They were great to reach out to PVCC with these opportunities will be sharing some entry-level positions soon with us, so stay tuned!

• Attention tennis enthusiasts! The 2nd Annual Wheelchair Open Tennis Tournament at  Boar's Head on December 9-11 is looking for volunteer ball persons.
• Are you 21 and have a blaster's license? This Blaster position at Austin Powder (in Fork Union) looks like it could be a fun job for those who love explosives.
