Traveling Holy Family

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in" (Matthew 25:35).

LMC's "Traveling Holy Family" is here! This set of hand-carved olive wood figures from the West Bank is looking for homes to host them for 2–3 nights during Advent. The set that will travel includes Mary, Joseph, the manger (no baby Jesus because he hasn't been born yet), a shepherd, and four animals. Here's how it works:
  • Sign-up for a few days via this Google Sheet.
  • You will receive the Holy Family from the home signed up ahead of you. For example, the Swagler Family is hosting first November 27–28. Whoever signs up on November 29 will receive them from me. That home keeps them for 2–3 days and passes them on to the next home. The Holy Family will continue to travel until the last home hosts them and returns them to LMC on Wednesday, December 21.
  • Included with the set will be an Advent devotional.
If you have any questions, feel free to email Sarah.

ELCA Social Message on Earth's Climate Crisis

The ELCA recently drafted a new social message on climate care and is seeking public comment. This new statement will replace the prior social statement Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope and Justice that was adopted in 1993 by the ELCA Churchwide Assembly. LMC will host an informal discussion about the document on Sunday, November 27, at 10am in the Chapel to explore how the ELCA is proposing to respond from a place of faith in the current environmental context.

In addition, public feedback is welcome by way of a survey, and comments are due back by Friday, Dec. 2. You can learn more about the ELCA’s efforts around creation care here.
