With the final programme now up and running, here’s a taste of what to expect:
DAY 1
Wednesday 7 December is our Fellowship Showcase. Meet our JournalismAI Fellows, and learn about the innovative projects they have been working on this year.
Over the last six months, they’ve been developing new journalistic solutions for everything from fact-checking and social media monitoring, to image recognition and topic modelling.
On the first day of the Festival, each Fellowship team will present the outcomes of their projects and talk about what they learned during the process.
DAY 2
On Thursday 8 December, we’ll be Delving Deeper into AI. Here are some of the sessions you can look forward to:
How the Guardian uses AI to analyse articles, with the Guardian’s Lead Data Scientist Anna Vissens and Ines Montani, Co-founder and CEO of Explosion.
Collaboration and AI, with Marina Walker Guevara, Executive Editor at the Pulitzer Center.
Getting started with AI as a small newsroom, with Aimee Rinehart and Ernest Kung from AP’s Local News AI Initiative.
If you missed the last newsletter, head to journalismaidiscovery.com and check out our latest initiative 👀
JournalismAI Discovery is an interactive self-guided course – starting in January 2023 – that will help you understand what AI technologies can do to improve your journalism.
To find out more about the course, sign up to receive updates and be notified when registrations open in December.
That's all for this week. As always, hit reply if you have any questions. I'd love to hear from you.
Take care, Mattia, JournalismAI Manager & Team Lead
JournalismAI is a project of Polis – the journalism think-tank at the London School of Economics and Political Science – and it's powered by the Google News Initiative.
