Nieuwsbericht / Newsletter GPI:

Nieuwsbrief versie Nederlands    Newsletter English version

In this edition:
As of today, a brand new GPI is available. In this newsletter you will find an overview of all the innovations and minor optimizations that have been implemented in this GPI 5.0 release for the candidates and company administrators. In addition, we would like to inform you about other interesting news, including the visibility of the GPI, a new case study and the launch of a new notification system.
Highlights GPI 5.0
The brand new GPI 5.0 builds on its predecessor GPI 4.0, which has been very well received by users. However, based on the feedback provided, there were still a number of important improvements that could be made. They have now been implemented. For the composition of this GPI, we collaborated with relevant partners such as Bouwend Nederland, Cumela|Stigas, Freesmij and Transport- en Logistiek Nederland. These are the highlights:
  • Instead of three GPIs for different target groups, there is now actually one GPI with one valid GPI certificate. That makes it clearer and easier.

  • When registering or logging in, you will be asked in which subsector of the construction industry you are most employed as a candidate. Depending on this, a personal 'preferred learning route' is put together.

  • You can choose from 21 practical subjects (something for every subsector), from which you as a candidate can choose eight subjects.

  • The opening animation with very generic rules and points of interest has been shortened. More specific topics from this are reflected in the practical topics.

  • The duration of the GPI 5.0 has been reduced compared to the previous version, so that as a candidate you will not spend longer than 45 minutes on average.

  • Portuguese and Bulgarian have been added as new languages.

Subsector
Recently, the subsector of the construction sector in which someone is employed has been mapped out. To keep things clear, nine subsectors were initially chosen. We do not cover every sector in this way, but a free choice is always possible. This information provides the GPI's Assurance Committee (compilers) with even more insights to better align the content of the GPI with working practice. This can also be a good reason for the WBC to enter into a dialogue with the subsectors.

It concerns the following subsectors:
1. Civil Engineering (infra)
2. B & U (Construction & Utility)
3. Green
4. Maintenance
5. Transport & Supplier
6. Railway construction
7. Metal Construction
8. Concrete construction
9. Installation/Engineering
10. Free choice

Visibility GPI
In various media we work on the visibility of working safely and the role of the GPI in this. Below are some recent examples:

  • In September, a nice article of the Governance Code for Safety in the Construction Industry appeared in trade journal BouwPlus about safety awareness, with GPI as an example. Read the article here (Dutch version).

  • The Governance Code for Safety in Construction organized another Safety Breakfast for GCVB Underwriters on Wednesday 12 October. View an impression here (Dutch version).

  • This year we published four practical stories in which the experiences of those involved are exchanged about working safely and the GPI. More later in this newsletter.

  • Proud candidates sharing their GPI achievement on LinkedIn! Have you spotted one? Then comment or like these posts. It is a great achievement that certainly fits in with: 'Make a habit of working safely.'

Case study GPI: TLN speaking
‘Putting safety first requires commitment from all of us.’
This year we interviewed various parties involved about their experiences with the GPI and construction safety in general. These 'testimonials' give a good picture of how the GPI is experienced. Paul van der Linde of Transport and Logistics Netherlands (TLN) talks about it in a new practical story. How does the transport sector view the GPI? Where are improvements still possible?

We previously shared practical stories from Rijkswaterstaat, BAM Bouw en Techniek and Strukton Civiel (Dutch version). Curious about their vision and experiences?

Looking for practical stories: let us hear from you!
Would you also like to be interviewed about your experiences with the GPI? Please contact us at contact@explainsafe.nl.We are mainly looking for constructive practical experiences.
New: notification system
Since November 7, a notification system has been launched for end users of the GPI. After logging in to the GPI account, this can be recognized by the notification bell with a red number (to be found in the navigation next to the login name). This functionality is used as an additional means of communication to provide candidates, company administrators and gatekeepers with information about the GPI, the web application and other news.
Depart Ferdinand Gildemacher
Ferdinand Gildemacher will leave eX:plain at the end of November 2022. As a project manager, he has worked for the GPI for almost five years. Ferdinand considered it an honor to work for the Governance Code Safety in Construction and SSVV. He has met many interesting and driven people and will certainly take the safety awareness to his next job, in which he will start working as a Senior Project Manager at Remeha in Apeldoorn. Ferdinand wishes us all every success in realizing our ambitions in the field of safety.
