Happy Thanksgiving! As a critical part of our work, I wanted to personally invite you to be a part of Giving Tuesday tomorrow. This is a day of radical generosity and a movement for positive change. And we need your support.

I started Play Like a Girl over 18 years ago because I saw firsthand the drastic need for equitable representation. The gender gap in education and health throughout the communities where I was working ignited me and inspires me to this day.

Over the years, I learned that girls have fewer role models to inspire their interest in STEM+ fields. They are seeing limited examples of female scientists and engineers in books, media, and popular culture. There are even fewer Black women role models in STEM+. As a result, women are seriously underrepresented in these fields.

This is not allowing girls to reach their full potential. This is not what makes a society thrive.

I’m asking for your help. Together, we can expose girls to inspiring women role models and mentors who leverage the transferable skills girls gain from sports to give them a competitive edge in the classroom and, ultimately, prepare them for the workforce.
