Are you interested in what makes a strong HEE/NIHR Predoctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) Application?

FIND OUT HOW AT OUR FREE
ONE-DAY WORKSHOP

We are hosting a free one-day workshop to look closely at what is required to make a competitive application to the HEE/NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF).

The programme enables health and social care clinicians and practitioners (excluding doctors and dentists) to begin to develop their research careers. Applicants must be employed by a provider of health and/or social care services, this provider must provide at least 50% of its services free at the point of delivery and the applicant must be spending at least 50% of their current role delivering health and/or social care services.

It is a funded programme that offers bespoke research skills training and development and allows for time buy-out from substantive roles. It has been developed to support early career researchers who wish to pursue a career as a clinical academic in the NHS or Social Care.

The workshop will be hosted by NHS R&D Northwest with inputs from the NIHR PCAF Scheme Manager, Chair of the PCAF Selection Panel, and current and previous PCAF award holders.

The workshop will explore:

  • The PCAF scheme in the context of the broader NIHR Fellowship programme and its ICA Pathway in particular.
  • What makes a good application; common pitfalls, details of what NIHR is looking for in applications with some ‘top tips’.
  • Current and previous award holders will give delegates an idea of what to expect from the scheme, how they managed the application process and their own personal journeys.
  • The timing of applications and the application process.

Prior to the NIHR PCAF application window opening at the end of
January 2023.  The workshop will be held on

FRIDAY 13th JANUARY 2023

THE HOLIDAY INN, MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE,

9.30am – 4.30pm

This workshop will be LIMITED TO 35 DELEGATES, however we will be operating a waiting list.
