TORONTO OPERETTA THEATRE
Presents
Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss

Toronto, 23 November 2022…Toronto Operetta Theatre presents Johann Strauss’ unequalled operetta masterpiece, Die Fledermaus, in full production at the St. Lawrence Centre on Wednesday, December 28 (3 pm); Friday, December 30 (8 pm) and New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 (8 pm).  Kirsten Leblanc, an alumna of Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier Lyrique, debuts as Rosalinda with Keith Klassen as her philandering husband, Eisenstein.  Andrea Núñez sings Adele, co-starring with Gregory Finney as the very ‘bored’ Prince Orlovsky and ‘primo uomo tenore’ Scott Rumble as Alfredo.  TOT’s General Director Guillermo Silva-Marin will direct and also reprises his hilarious turn as the jailor Frosch.  Derek Bate conducts, with Myra Malley as Stage Manager.

Die Fledermaus has it all”, says Silva-Marin. “A bored Russian Prince, a philandering Baron, an upwardly mobile maid, a lawyer dressed in a bat suit and a tenor with killer high C’s.  Mix it all up with the best music the Waltz King ever wrote and you’ve got the perfect musical treat for the Holiday Season.”

Strauss’ Die Fledermaus is the unquestioned masterpiece of Vienna’s Golden Age and music theatres everywhere present Die Fledermaus as the highlight of the Holiday Season.  Sometimes called the ‘Revenge of the Bat’, Strauss’s operetta is filled with glorious waltzes, polkas, and stirring choruses all wrapped around a story of human foibles, class structure, disguises, and vindication leading to a happy ending with champagne for all!

Tickets to Toronto Operetta Theatre’s DIE FLEDERMAUS make the perfect Christmas Gift.  Treat family, friends and colleagues to Holiday Entertainment at its best.
Best of all, TOT will keep ticket prices unchanged at pre-pandemic levels!
